- الآلهة النباتية هي آلهة من الطبيعة والتي يمثل اختفاؤها وظهورها من جديد، أو الحياة والموت والبعث من جديد، دورة نمو النباتات. في عبادة الطبيعة، يمكن أن يكون الإله إلهًا مذكرًا أو إلهة مؤنثة مع القدرة على تجديد نفسها. غالباً ما يكون إله النبات هو إله الخصوبة. عادةً ما يمر الإله بتقطيع أوصال والتشتت، وإعادة الدمج، كما ورد في أسطورة أو تم إعادة تجسيدها بواسطة طقس ديني. يعطي النمط الدوري أهمية لاهوتية في مواضيع مثل الخلود والقيامة والتناسخ. تتشابه الأساطير النباتية مع بعض الأساطير الخلقية التي تولد فيها أجزاء من جسم الكائن البدائي جوانب من الكون، مثل الأسطورة الإسكندنافية لإيمير. - Vegetationsgottheit oder Fruchtbarkeitsgötter bzw. -göttinnen ist ein Begriff der Religionsgeschichte und Mythologie, der zumeist einen Göttertypus definiert, der gelegentlich, sofern er die zyklischen Momente der Natur repräsentiert, auch als „Sterbender Gott“ bezeichnet wird oder mit dem Ritual der Heiligen Hochzeit verbunden sein kann. Ein Kennzeichen der jeweiligen Gottheiten ist es, dass sie unter anderem im Kreislauf der Vegetationsrhythmen in die Unterwelt hinabsteigen, um im Frühling in das Diesseits zurückzukehren oder aber in der Unterwelt als chthonische Gottheit als Todesgott über das Totenreich herrschen, mitunter zusammen mit einer Gefährtin/Gefährten, die periodisch auf die Oberwelt darf, z. B. Persephone. Eine besondere Variante stellt dabei die sog. Dema-Gottheit dar, eine weitere die Muttergottheiten. (de)
- A vegetation deity is a nature deity whose disappearance and reappearance, or life, death and rebirth, embodies the growth cycle of plants. In nature worship, the deity can be a god or goddess with the ability to regenerate itself. A vegetation deity is often a fertility deity. The deity typically undergoes dismemberment (see sparagmos), scattering, and reintegration, as narrated in a myth or reenacted by a religious ritual. The cyclical pattern is given theological significance on themes such as immortality, resurrection, and reincarnation. Vegetation myths have structural resemblances to certain creation myths in which parts of a primordial being's body generate aspects of the cosmos, such as the Norse myth of Ymir. In mythography of the 19th and early 20th century, as for example in The Golden Bough of J.G. Frazer, the figure is related to the "corn spirit", "corn" in this sense meaning grain in general. That triviality is giving the concept its tendency to turn into a meaningless generality, as Walter Friedrich Otto remarked of trying to use a "name as futile and yet pretentious as 'Vegetation deity'".
