An Entity of Type: organisation, from Named Graph: http://dbpedia.org, within Data Space: dbpedia.org

Brandalism (a portmanteau of 'brand' and 'vandalism') is an anti-advertising movement. It is a form of creative activism that uses subvertising to alter and critique corporate advertising by creating parodies or spoofs to replace ads in public areas. The art is typically intended to draw attention to political and social issues such as consumerism and the environment. Advertisements produced by the Brandalism movement are silk screen printed artworks, and may take the form of a new image, or a satirical alteration to an existing image, icon or logo. The advertisements are often pasted over billboards, or propped under the glass of roadside advertising spaces.

The art is typically intended to draw attention to political and social issues such as consumerism and the environment. The advertisements are often pasted over billboards, or propped under the glass of roadside advertising spaces. Prior to the formal emergence of Brandalism, similar creative activist movements had existed, using culture jamming, subvertising and détournement to promote a range of social and political issues throughout history. In 2012, during the Summer Olympics hosted in the UK, the Brandalism movement officially emerged. Since then, several public Brandalism campaigns have been launched across the globe. These include during the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris and the 2019-2020 Australian bushfire season, where the Brandalism movement sought to draw attention to topics such as environmental degradation, visual pollution, debt and the representation of body image in advertising. • Brandalismoa, “brand” (marka) eta "bandalismo" hitzen elkarketatik sortua, publizitatearen aurkako mugimendua da, Londresko (Erresuma Batua) 2012ko Udako Olinpiar Jokoetan sortu zena. Publizitatea aldatu eta kritikatzen duen aktibismo mota sortzaile bat da. Arteak normalean kontsumismoa eta ingurumena bezalako gai politiko eta sozialak erakarri nahi ditu. Brandalismo mugimenduak sortutako iragarkiak serigrafiatutako artelanak dira, eta irudi berri baten itxura edo lehendik dagoen irudi, ikono edo logotipoaren aldaketa satirikoa izan daitezke. Iragarkiak iragarki iragarkien gainean itsatsi ohi dira edo errepide bidezko iragarkien espazioen kristalaren azpian daude. Brandalismoaren sorrera formalaren aurretik, antzeko sormen aktibista mugimenduak existitzen ziren, kulturaren jamming, subvertising eta détournement erabiliz historian zehar gizarte eta politika arazo ugari sustatzeko. 2012an, Erresuma Batuan antolatutako Udako Olinpiar Jokoetan, Brandalismo mugimendua sortu zen ofizialki. Harrezkero, hainbat brandalismo kanpaina publiko hasi dira mundu osoan. Horien artean, Parisen 2015eko Nazio Batuen Klima Aldaketaren Konferentzian eta 2019-2020 Australiako suteen sasoian, Brandalismo mugimenduak arreta erakarri nahi izan zuen ingurumenaren narriadura, ikusizko kutsadura, zorra eta gorputzaren irudiaren publizitatea irudikatzea bezalako gaiei buruz.
