- Eine Lufthutze oder englisch Scoop ist eine Öffnung auf der Motorhaube oder an einer anderen Stelle der Karosserie, aber auch nur an einem separaten Raum (Kajüten, Baustellenwagen, Transformatorenstationen, Hallen usw.). Sie dient dem Zweck, den Eintritt von Luft durch den Fahrtwind zu ermöglichen bzw. durch Nutzung der natürlichen Luftströmung (Wind) einen Luftaustausch zu gewährleisten. Kühlluft-Einlässe auf der Motorhaube können auch als NACA-Öffnung gestaltet sein, wie beim Alfa Romeo Montreal. Bei leistungsstarken Motoren tragen Lufthutzen zur zusätzlichen Kühlung oder Erleichterung der Luftzufuhr zum Motor bei. Sie sind sehr beliebt in der Tuningszene, haben dort aber meist gar keine technische, sondern lediglich eine rein optische Funktion, indem sie dem Fahrzeug eine sportliche Note verleihen. Drehbare Lufthutzen auf Booten und Schiffen nennen sich Windhutze oder Dorade-Lüfter. (de)
- A hood scoop (North American English) or bonnet scoop (Commonwealth English), sometimes called bonnet airdam and air dam, is an upraised component on the hood of a motor vehicle that either allows a flow of air to directly enter the engine compartment, or appears to do so. It has only one opening and is closed on all other sides. Its main function is to allow a direct flow of air to the engine, hence the need for it to be upraised so as to effectively channel air to the engine compartment. - L'Hood scoop, a volte chiamata anche air scoop o airscope sulle vetture di Formula 1, è un componente posizionato sul cofano di un veicolo a motore che consente a un flusso di aria esterno di entrare direttamente nel vano motore. Ha una sola apertura nella parte anteriore ed è chiuso su tutti gli altri lati. La sua funzione principale è quella di consentire di far arrivare un flusso diretto di aria al motore, da qui la necessità di essere sollevato e rialzata rispetto al piano del cofano, in modo tale da canalizzare efficacemente l'aria nel vano motore. Può anche essere chiusa o finta, e quindi utilizzata puramente come elemento decorativo. (it)
