Wawel was a named international express train. Introduced in 1995 as an InterCity service, it was uplifted to EuroCity category by its operators PKP Intercity and DB Fernverkehr in 2006. The service was withdrawn at the end of 2014 and reintroduced in December 2020. The train linked Kraków and Wrocław in Poland with Berlin and Hamburg in Germany. It was named after the Wawel, former residence of the Polish kings in Kraków.

  • Der EuroCity Wawel ist ein internationaler Expresszug, der nach der ehemaligen Residenz der polnischen Könige in Krakau Wawel benannt wurde. Seit 1995 verband er zunächst als InterCity die Städte Hamburg, Berlin, Breslau und bis 2012 Krakau miteinander. 2006 wurde er von den beteiligten Bahngesellschaften DB Fernverkehr und PKP Intercity zum EuroCity aufgewertet. Zwischen Dezember 2014 und Dezember 2020 wurde diese Zugverbindung nicht angeboten. Ab Dezember 2020 verkehrt er wieder zwischen Berlin und Krakau.
