- ييد أو يّد هي كلمة عرقية يهودية من أصول يديشية. تستخدم كلمةً مستقلة في المجتمع اليهودي الأشكنازي وتستخدم أيضاً ككلمة عامية من قبل مشجعي كرة القدم، ومعاديي السامية وآخرين. قد يعتبر استخدامها في اللغة الإنجليزية الحديثة قد مثيرًا للجدل. فغالباً لا تعتبر مسيئةً حين تُلفظ على وزن «عيد» في العربية أو كلمة "deed" في الإنجليزية كما يلفظها الييديشيون. البعض الآخر يعتقد أنها تكون مهينة فقط حين تُلفظ على وزن «وِد» في العربية أو كلمة "did" في الإنجليزية خصوصاً إذا استخدمت من أشخاص غير يهوديين فقد تؤخذ على محمل الإزدراء أو التحقير. لكن البعض يعتبرها مهينة مهما كان لفظها. يستخدمهمعاديو السامية لقبًا تحقيريًا وأيضاً تستخدم بديلًا لكلمة يهودي "Jew" في اللغة الإنجليزية. في المملكة المتحدة، الكلمة ييد والكلمة ييدو المرتبطة فيها تستخدمان للإشارة بشكل تحقيري ومهين إلى مشجعي نادي توتنهام توتسبير. ولكنها الآن تستخدم من قبل مشجعي النادي بطريقة إيجابية للتعريف عن أنفسهم. It is used as an autonym within the Ashkenazi Jewish community, and also used as slang by European football fans, anti-semites, and others. Its usage may be controversial in modern English language. It is not usually considered offensive when pronounced /ˈjiːd/ (rhyming with deed), the way Yiddish speakers say it, though some may deem the word offensive nonetheless. When pronounced /ˈjɪd/ (rhyming with did) by non-Jews, it is commonly intended as a pejorative term. It is used as a derogatory epithet by antisemites along with, and as an alternative to, the English word 'Jew'. In Britain, the word "yid" and its related term "yiddo" are also used to refer to the supporters and players of Tottenham Hotspur, originally in a derogatory manner by rival fans, but now also used as self-designation in a non-pejorative sense by Tottenham fans, according to the Oxford English Dictionary.
