- El vicepresidente de Paraguay, es la persona con el segundo puesto más alto en la rama ejecutiva del gobierno del Paraguay, después del presidente de Paraguay. La posición de vicepresidente fue creada en la constitución de 1844, aunque se la contemplaba como un cargo provisorio que era asignado solo por ausencia o acefalia en la jefatura de Estado. La Constitución de 1870 instaló el cargo con carácter permanente, asignándole también la presidencia del Congreso Nacional y la del Senado. La posición desapareció entre 1940 y 1993, siendo que las Constituciones de 1940 y 1967 suprimieron el cargo. Recién en 1992, con la nueva Constitución Nacional, se reinstaló la posición de vicepresidente de la República dentro del esquema institucional político del Paraguay. (es)

- The vice president of Paraguay is the person with the second highest position in the executive branch of the Paraguayan government, after the president of Paraguay. The position of vice president was created with the Constitution of 1844, although it was the title gave to ex officio members temporarily replacing the elected president in case of death or absence, and was not a position elected along the president. The Constitution of 1870 installed the position with a permanent character, being elected along the president and assigning to it the presidency of the National Congress and the one of the Senate. The position disappeared between 1940 and 1993, being that the Constitutions of 1940 and 1967 abolished it. Only in 1992, with the new National Constitution, the position of vice president was reinstalled within the political institutional scheme of Paraguay. The vice president serves a five-year term, running on the same ticket as the president. He is not eligible for reelection. A vice president may run for president, provided that he leaves office at least six months before election day. (en)
