- USA Hockey ist der US-amerikanische Eishockey-Verband, welcher sich bis Juni 1991 AHAUS (Amateur Hockey Association of the United States) nannte. Ihm untersteht die US-amerikanische Eishockeynationalmannschaft sowie das USA Hockey National Team Development Program. Als einziger Mitgliedsverband der IIHF neben Hockey Canada hat USA Hockey ein eigenes Regelbuch. Unter beiden Verbänden wird zum Beispiel meist auf kleineren Eisflächen als in Europa gespielt. Die Amateur Hockey Association of the United States (AHAUS) wurde am 29. Oktober 1937 in New York City von Tommy Lockhart gegründet. Zum Zeitpunkt seiner Gründung stand sein Verband in Konkurrenz zur Amateur Athletic Union, die die USA ab 1920 bei der damaligen Ligue Internationale de Hockey sur Glace (heute IIHF) vertreten hatte. Im März 1947 wurde USA Hockey anstelle der AAU Mitglied bei der IIHF und ist seither ständiges Mitglied der Föderation. Außerdem vertritt USA Hockey die Belange des Eishockeysports und seit 1994 auch des Inlinehockeysports im Nationalen Olympischen Komitee der USA. In der Saison 2008/09 waren über 548.000 Eishockeyspieler, Trainer und Offizielle in den USA registriert. Sitz des Verbandes ist Colorado Springs im Bundesstaat Colorado. Dieser ist in zwölf Regionen unterteilt (Atlantic, Central, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mid-American, Minnesota, New England, New York, Northern Plains, Pacific, Rocky Mountain, Southeastern). Le siège social de l'organisation est situé dans la ville de Colorado Springs, au Colorado et comptait 520 000 membres pour la saison 2014-2015. En concertation avec Hockey Canada, USA Hockey est l'une des deux associations membres de la FIHG qui utilise son propre livre des règlements plutôt que de suivre les règlements standards de la FIHG. Le USA Hockey Rules and Casebook of Ice Hockey (le livre des règlements du hockey sur glace de USA hockey) est mis à jour tous les deux ans durant les années paires. Enfin, elle administre le US National Team Development Program (programme de développement de l'équipe nationale) dont le siège social est situé dans la ville de Ann Arbor, au Michigan et qui est composé d'un groupe de joueurs sélectionnés et triés parmi les joueurs les plus talentueux des États-Unis. Cette équipe participe à la North American Hockey League (NAHL) ainsi que dans la United States Hockey League en plus d'être une organisation sportive participant au championnat collégial de la NCAA Division I et dans diverses compétitions internationales. Il n'est pas rare de voir un nombre important de joueurs du programme américain faire leur entrée dans la LNH ou être sélectionnés dans l'équipe des États-Unis.
