Le film a été projeté dans plusieurs festivals, tels que le Festival de Saint-Sébastien en 2001 ou encore le Festival du film britannique de Dinard, dans lesquels il a été récompensé à plusieurs reprises. Il met en scène Lafcadia, interprété par Irrfan Khan, un guerrier qui décide d'oublier la violence et de retourner dans son pays natal. Mais son Seigneur refuse qu'il l'abandonne ainsi et envoie ses hommes pour le tuer. Tourné dans l'Himachal Pradesh et au Rajasthan, The Warrior est la cinquième réalisation d'Asif Kapadia, après (1994), (1996), Wild West (1996) et (1997). De la même manière que The Sheep Thief, The Warrior a bénéficié de projections dans plusieurs festivals dans lesquels il a été récompensé. The Warrior is the story of spiritual transformation of a cruel warrior Lafcadia. The movie unfolds taking you from Rajasthan to the Himalayas. Kapadia started work on the 2001 film within a year of graduating from the Royal College of Art. Even though this was his first feature film, The Warrior was produced by companies from the UK, Germany and France. At the BAFTA Awards it won the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film. It was also one of the films, short-listed for UK's official entry for the Academy Awards but was ultimately dropped on grounds that the language was not indigenous to Britain.
