- Tezozómoc († 1426) war ein Fürst der Tepaneken, der von 1371 bis 1426 den Stadtstaat Azcapotzalco regierte. Er baute die Vormachtstellung der Tepaneken entschlossen aus und machte Azcapotzalco zur führenden politischen Kraft im Tal von Mexiko. In seiner Herrschaftszeit war das aztekische Tenochtitlán ein Vasall der Tepaneken und hatte für diese Krieg mit anderen Städten zu führen und zu erobern. Viele seiner Söhne wurden Herrscher über von den Azteken eroberten Städten im Tal von Mexiko. Den Höhepunkt dieser Auseinandersetzungen bildete der Kampf mit der Stadt , die zu dieser Zeit die zweitmächtigste Stadt der Region war. Der 1414 begonnene Krieg zog sich mehrere Jahre hin und konnte nur durch massive Hilfe von Tenochtitlán und Tlatelolco gewonnen werden. Als Belohnung wurde eine von Tezozómocs Töchtern mit dem Aztekenherrscher Huitzilíhuitl verheiratet. Aus dieser Verbindung ging Chimalpopoca hervor, der seinem Vater noch als Kind auf den Thron nachfolgen sollte. Nach Tezozómocs Tod im Jahre 1426 wurde sein Sohn Maxtla sein Nachfolger. (de)

- Tezozomochtli (ou Tezozomoc) est le plus grand des souverains tépanèques, peuple de Mésoamérique, dont la capitale était Azcapotzalco. Il naquit au milieu du XIVe siècle d'un roi tépanèque nommé Acolnahuacatzin et régna sur la cité d'Azcapotzalco de 1367 à 1427. Grand chef de guerre, il agrandit considérablement son royaume et s'empara de la zone ouest de la vallée de Mexico. Il conquit les cités de Chalco (1392), (1408), Colhuacan (1413). Ses relations avec les Aztèques qui lui sont soumis semblent bonnes puisqu'il offrit sa fille en mariage à leur souverain Huitzilihuitl. De cette union naitra un fils, Chimalpopoca, adoré, selon les récits aztèques, par Tezozomochtli. La fin de sa vie et sa succession sont confuses. Les relations se dégradent semble-t-il avec les Acolhuas de la ville de Texcoco qui est prise, provisoirement, en 1418. Les Acolhuas forment une culture très proche de celle des Aztèques et sont alliés à ces derniers. Son fils et héritier, Tayauh, est assassiné par son frère Maxclatl qui semble exercer la réalité du pouvoir à la fin de la vie de Tezozomochtli, accentue la pression fiscale sur les Aztèques, et emprisonne son neveu Chimalpopoca lequel finit par se suicider en 1426. Tezozomochtli mourut le 27 mars 1427 et n'assista pas ainsi à l'écroulement de son royaume sous la force combinée des Aztèques et des Acolhuas. (fr)
