- El matrimonio entre personas del mismo sexo en Quintana Roo es legal desde finales del año 2012.El 28 de noviembre del 2011, se realizaron los dos primeros enlaces homosexuales en la entidad federativa, esto por un vacío legal en el que el , en el cual no se establece como requisito que el matrimonio se celebre entre hombre y mujer, pues sólo dice "entre personas".Después de una batalla legal, el 5 de junio de 2012, se agotó el término para impugnar su enlace matrimonial, dando posibilidad a que más parejas homosexuales aprovechen este vacío legal, que no se cree que pueda ser corregido para prohibir los matrimonios homosexuales, ya que en la reciente modificación de la Constitución Política de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos en materia de Derechos Humanos el Artículo 1º Constitucional específica ahora que ningún mexicano puede ser objeto de discriminación por su orientación sexual. - Same-sex marriage is performed and recognized in all municipalities of the state of Quintana Roo. The first two same-sex marriages occurred in Kantunilkin on 28 November 2011 after it was discovered that the state's Civil Code does not specify sex or gender requirements for marriage. However, future same-sex marriages were suspended in January 2012 upon review by the state's Secretary General of Government. The two same-sex marriages in the state were annulled by the Governor of Quintana Roo, Roberto Borge Angulo, in April 2012, but these annulments were reversed by the Secretary General of Government on 3 May. The Secretary's decision allows for future same-sex marriages to be performed in Quintana Roo. Quintana Roo was the first Mexican state, and the second jurisdiction in Mexico after Mexico City, to legalize same-sex marriage. Further legislation and rulings from the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation that same-sex marriage bans violate the Constitution of Mexico have expanded same-sex marriage to every state. (en)
