- SS Medic byl parník společnosti White Star Line vybudovaný v loděnicích Harland & Wolff v Belfastu roku 1899. Byl jeden z pěti lodí třídy Jubileum společně s parníky Afric, Persic, Runic a Suevic. Sloužil na trase Liverpool - Kapské Město - Sydney. Medic měl stejně jako jeho sesterské lodě jeden komín, tonáž pod 12 000 BRT a prostory pro 320 pasažérů 3. třídy. Protože byly tyto lodě spuštěny rok před koncem 19. století, byly nazvány třída Jubileum. Po dlouhé službě pro White Star Line byl prodán a upraven na velrybářskou loď. Nakonec byl 12. září 1942 zasažen torpédem ponorky a potopil se. (cs)

Tous cinq sont destinés à desservir la ligne de l'Australie. Cependant, le Medic est le premier à inaugurer ce service, et est alors le plus gros navire sur cet itinéraire, ce qui lui vaut un accueil triomphal à son arrivée à Sydney. Dans les années qui suivent, le Medic connaît une carrière commerciale sans histoires, à l'exception d'un court service de transport de troupes dans le cadre de la Guerre des Boers. La Première Guerre mondiale n'altère en revanche pas son service, sa grande capacité de transport de viande le rendant très utile sur la ligne australienne. Après guerre, il poursuit son activité pour la White Star. Devenu inutile, il est vendu en 1928 à une société norvégienne qui le transforme en baleinier et le renomme Hektoria. En 1932, il reprend pavillon britannique, mais poursuit son activité de baleinier et conserve son nom. Transformé en pétrolier par le gouvernement durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il est torpillé et coulé par l'U-608 le 12 septembre 1942. (fr)
- SS Medic was a steamship built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast for the White Star Line which entered service in 1899. Medic was one of five Jubilee-class ocean liners (the others being the Afric, Persic, Runic and Suevic) built specifically to service the Liverpool–Cape Town–Sydney route. The ship's name pertained to the ancient Persian region of Media and was pronounced Mee-dic. Medic was the second Jubilee-class ship to be built for the Australia service. Like her sisters she was a single funnel liner, measuring just under 12,000 gross register tons (GRT), which had capacity for 320 passengers in third class on three decks, she also had substantial cargo capacity with seven cargo holds, most of them refrigerated for the transport of Australian meat. After a long career with White Star, Medic was sold in 1928 and was converted into a whaling factory ship and renamed Hektoria, she remained in service in this role until being torpedoed and sunk during World War II in the Atlantic Ocean whilst sailing in a convoy in 1942.
