- Das Royal National Mòd (gälisch Am Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail) ist ein durch An Comunn Gàidhealach organisiertes und veranstaltetes Festival zur Förderung der gälischen Sprache, Musik und Kultur. Das Mòd, gälische für „jährliches Treffen“, findet seit 1892 jährlich an verschiedenen Orten Schottlands statt, mit Ausnahme der Jahre des Ersten und Zweiten Weltkriegs. 2019 fand die Veranstaltung in Glasgow vom 11. bis zum 19. Oktober statt. Das Mòd ist ein Wettstreit in verschiedenen Disziplinen, darunter gälisches Musik- und Liedgut, Highland-Tanz, Instrumentalmusik, Drama, Sport und Literatur. Neben dem National Mòd werden noch verschiedene lokale Mòds veranstaltet, die aber nicht die Bedeutung des Royal National Mòd erreichen. 1992 wurde das Mòd durch eine Royal Charter bestätigt. - Is é an Mód Náisiúnta Ríoga (Gaeilge na hAlban: Am Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail) an phríomhócáid chultúrtha i saol Ghaeilge na hAlban. Is í an fhéile chultúrtha seo inchurtha le hOireachtas na Gaeilge in Éirinn agus leis an Eisteddfod Genedlaethol sa mBreatain Bheag. Chuir an Comunn Gàidhealach (Cumann Gaelach) an Mòd ar bun sa mbliain 1892 agus bíonn an Mòd ar siúl go rialta uair amháin in aghaidh na bliana sa bhfómhar. Bíonn a lán comórtas ar siúl ag an Mòd agus duaiseanna le haghaidh na mbuaiteoirí, mar shampla comórtais bhéalaithrise, sean-nós, amhráin Ghaeilge na hAlban, cóir Ghaeilge na hAlban, ceol traidisiúnta, comórtais ionstraime – , an phíb mhór agus an chláirseach ina measc. Bíonn comórtais i litríocht, léamh filíochta nó an Bhíobla ann agus ealaíona eile freisin. Ar ndóigh, bíonn céilithe ar siúl chuile oíche. Bíonn camanachd (iománaíocht na hAlban) agus peil ag an Mòd chomh maith agus clár spéisiúil le haghaidh Imeall an Mhòid, le ceol, ceardlanna agus óráidí. Tarraingíonn na comórtais go leor daoine chun an Mhòid gach bliain agus is minic a bhíodh slua maith ann, go háirithe ag comórtais na clainne. Anois, de bhrí go bhfuil cainéal teilifíse i nGaeilge na hAlban, bíonn an Mòd le feiceáil ar BBC Alba. Craolann Radio nan Gàidheal na buaicphointí chomh maith. Bíonn an Mòd ann chuile bhliain i Mí Dheireadh Fómhair in áiteanna éagsúla ar fud na hAlban. (ga)

It is the largest of several major Scottish Mòds and is often referred to simply as the Mòd. The Mòd is run by An Comunn Gàidhealach (The Gaelic Association) and includes competitions and awards. - Le Mòd est un festival gaélique écossais, qui se déroule chaque année au mois d'octobre, depuis 1892, où se déroulent des concours de musique, de chant, de poésie et d’art dramatique. Il a lieu chaque année dans une ville différente. Le Mòd s'inspire de l’Eisteddfod gallois. D'après le Président d'An Comunn Gàidhealach, le festival serait « national » et « royal » depuis 113 ans. Mais d'autres sources indiquent qu'il n'est placé sous le « patronage » de la reine du Royaume-Uni que depuis 1992. Ce patronage n'est d'ailleurs pas un mécénat, mais plutôt d’une appellation officielle : depuis que ce patronage existe, le nom gaélique officiel du Mòd est « Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail » (Assemblée nationale royale). Le Mòd est organisé par la Comunn Gàidhealach, une association gaélophone qui s’est donné pour but de soutenir le gaélique écossais. Elle lutte pour qu’il soit enseigné et elle promeut les domaines culturels qu’il véhicule : littérature, histoire, musique, etc. En plus du Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail, des mòds régionaux sont aussi organisés chaque année dans diverses régions d'Écosse.
