- La Pontifícia Universitat Catòlica de Valparaíso és una universitat situada a la ciutat xilena de Valparaíso. També és coneguda com a Universitat Catòlica de Valparaíso o simplement com UCV. Té la seu principal al centre de Valparaíso, ciutat on arriben milers d'estudiants de tot el país. La data de la seva fundació va ser el 21 de setembre de l'any 1925, per la contribució econòmica d' i les seves filles. Les seves primeres classes van ser el 25 de març de 1928 a 250 alumnes en les seves dues facultats: Indústries i Ciències Aplicades; i Comerç i Ciències Econòmiques. En el seu aniversari, l'any 2003, el Papa Joan Pau II li atorgà el títol de Pontifícia. Avui és una de les més importants universitats de Xile, i amb la Universitat de Concepción és la més important universitat fora de la capital, Santiago de Xile. (ca)

- La Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), también llamada Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (UCV), es una universidad tradicional de Chile, perteneciente al Consejo de Rectores de las Universidades Chilenas, a la Agrupación de Universidades Regionales de Chile y a la Red Universitaria G9. Es además una universidad católica pontificia, que depende directamente de la Santa Sede y del Obispado de Valparaíso. Su Casa Central se encuentra en Valparaíso, cerca del edificio del Congreso Nacional de Chile, y tiene distintas sedes ubicadas en el área histórica de Avenida Brasil, así como en otros lugares de Valparaíso y en Placilla de Peñuelas, Viña del Mar, Quilpué y Quillota. Actualmente se encuentra acreditada por la Comisión Nacional de Acreditación (CNA-Chile) por un período de 7 años (de un máximo de 7), desde enero de 2022 hasta enero de 2029. Figura en la posición 11 dentro de las universidades chilenas según la clasificación webométrica del CSIC (julio de 2020).Además está en la posición 4 según el ranking de AméricaEconomía 2022. Dentro de las universidades chilenas está, además, entre las 11 que figuran en la Clasificación mundial de universidades QS 2020,entre las 10 que figuran en el ranking del Times Higher Education 2020,y entre las 25 que aparecen en el ranking de Scimago Institution Rankings (SIR) 2020, con la posición 12 a nivel nacional y 680 a nivel mundial. - The Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso (Spanish: Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso) (PUCV), also known as Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (UCV), is one of six Catholic universities in Chile and one of the two pontifical universities in the country, along with the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Founded in 1928, it is located in Valparaíso Region and has about 17,000 students. It is recognized in Chile as an institution with high academic prestige and as a complex university due to its important research and educational development in the fields of science, engineering, humanities and arts. As a Catholic university, it answers directly to the Holy See and the Bishopric of Valparaíso. The PUCV is a traditional university and one of the twenty-five institutions within the Rectors' Council (Consejo de Rectores). Although it is not state-owned, a substantial part of its budget is given by state transfers under different programs. PUCV is an urban university. It has a central campus known as Casa Central (Central House) located in downtown Valparaíso, only a few blocks away from the Chilean Congress, the Metro, and the Pacific Ocean. One of the drawbacks of being an urban university is the difficulty of growing at the original site of its foundation. Several PUCV buildings are on the historic palm-tree-lined Avenida Brasil, but most of its schools are dispersed in throughout Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Quilpué and Quillota. The university is accredited by seven years, the maximum awarded by the National Accreditation Commission, for the period between 2022 and 2028. The PUCV, the University of Chile, the Catholic University, the University of Santiago, and the University of Concepción are the only institutions in Chile that have the highest accreditation. At the 2019 edition of the América Economía magazine university ranking, it was positioned 4th nationwide and first in the Valparaiso Region. It was positioned 22th at the QS Latin America University Ranking 2023 (5th nationwide). PUCV attracts students from different regions of Chile, as well as hundreds of exchange students from Europe, North America and several countries from South America, due to its convenient student exchange programs.
