Andreas Brandhorst übersetzte ihn ins Deutsche für den Goldmann Verlag 2004 (ISBN 3-442-54564-1). Ort der Handlung ist das Land Borograwien. Weiberregiment gehört zu den Kultur-Geschichten und die Protagonisten sind die Gefreite Polly Perks und Feldwebel Jackrum. Ihnen obliegt es, den unsinnigen und bereits verlorenen Krieg zwischen Borograwien und all seinen Nachbarn zu beenden. Die Stadtwache unter Samuel Mumm spielt genauso eine Nebenrolle wie William de Worde und seine Zeitung. Der englische Titel „Monstrous Regiment“ leitet sich von einem Traktat des schottischen Reformators John Knox ab, der sich in seinem Buch The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstruous Regiment of Women gegen die Herrschaft von Frauen (Marie de Guise, Maria Stuart) in Schottland wandte. Das Titelbild von Paul Kidby parodiert Joe Rosenthals berühmte Fotografie Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima. Il romanzo prende il nome dal libello anticattolico di John Knox (XVI secolo), il cui titolo completo è ("Il primo squillo di tromba contro il mostruoso reggimento di donne"). Il romanzo è una parodia del filone sul tema del "travestimento in guerra", ma al tempo stesso ha sviluppi che vanno dal satirico fino al drammatico. L'illustrazione sulla copertina dell'edizione inglese, ad opera di , è una parodia della fotografia della battaglia di Iwo Jima di Joe Rosenthal. (it)
- Potworny regiment (ang. Monstrous Regiment) – humorystyczna powieść fantasy, 31. książka z cyklu Świat Dysku Terry’ego Pratchetta, wydana w 2003 roku. W Polsce książka ta ukazała się 15 maja 2008. W krzywym zwierciadle ukazuje wojnę i wojsko, a także walkę o równouprawnienie płci i zakazy religijne. Na okładce, zaprojektowanej przez Paula Kidby zamieszczono parodię słynnej fotografii „Sztandar nad Iwo Jimą”. Tytuł książki nawiązuje do XVI-wiecznego traktatu Johna Knoxa „The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women” (Alarm przeciwko potwornym rządom kobiet), krytykującego rządy kobiet-królowych. W powieści, podobnie jak w innych książkach Pratchetta z serii „Świata Dysku” znajduje się bardzo wiele kalamburów, gier słów czy intertekstualnych aluzji, np. w jednej ze scen Samuel Vimes popełnia błąd językowy chcąc powiedzieć po borogrovsku, że on też jest Borogrowczykiem, co jest nawiązaniem do słów Johna F.
