- El MV Georgic fue un transatlántico británico construido en los astilleros de Harland & Wolff en Belfast, Irlanda del Norte. Fue el último barco construido para la White Star Line antes de su fusión con la Cunard Line. Terminado en 1932, fue el barco gemelo del MV Britannic y, al igual que este, era impulsado con motores diésel-eléctricos. En el momento de su construcción, fue la motonave más grande del mundo. Después de una exitosa carrera en la década de 1930 con la White Star Line y posteriormente con la Cunard White Star Line, fue requisado por el Almirantazgo Británico en 1939 donde fue convertido en transporte de tropas para el esfuerzo bélico durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. - MV Georgic was the last ship built for the White Star Line before its merger with the Cunard Line. Built at Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, she was the running mate of MV Britannic. Like Britannic, Georgic was a motorship, and not a steamer, fitted with a diesel powerplant. At the time of her launch in 1931, she was the largest British motorship. After a successful career as a liner in the 1930s, Georgic was requisitioned as a troopship in 1940. She was severely damaged and sunk in 1941 by a German bombing raid whilst docked at Port Tewfik in Egypt. After being refloated and extensively rebuilt, she returned to service as a troopship in 1944, and continued in service for both for military and civilian uses until 1956, when she was withdrawn from service and scrapped. - De MV Georgic was een motorschip en een oceaanlijner in dienst bij onder meer de White Star Line. Het schip werd gebouwd bij de Britse scheepsbouwer Harland and Wolff en in 1931 tewatergelaten. Ze was een zusterschip van de en ze was het laatste schip dat de White Star Line liet bouwen vóór de fusie met de Cunard Line. Van 1932 tot 1940 deed het schip dienst als lijnschip op de verbinding Liverpool - New York. In 1940 werd ze in het kader van de Tweede Wereldoorlog in dienst gesteld als troepentransportschip voor het Britse Ministerie van Oorlogstransport. In 1941 werd de Georgic in een Egyptische haven bij het Suezkanaal door Duitse gevechtsvliegtuigen tot zinken gebracht. Het schip werd tussen 1941 en 1944 gelicht en gerepareerd, waarna ze opnieuw dienst deed als troepenschip en na de oorlog als passagiersschip.
