Fue fundado en 2011 por el Frente Nacional de Resistencia Popular (FNRP), una coalición de organizaciones de izquierda que se opuso al golpe de Estado de 2009 contra Manuel Zelaya. En las elecciones de 2017, Libre se unió en alianza al Partido Innovación y Unidad para llevar como candidato presidencial a Salvador Nasralla, por lo cual Castro depuso su candidatura. - Liberty and Refoundation (Spanish: Libertad y Refundación, Libre; libre is the Spanish word for "free") is a left-wing political party in Honduras. Libre was founded in 2011 by the National Popular Resistance Front (FNRP), a leftist coalition of organizations opposed to the 2009 coup. Xiomara Castro, the wife of former president Manuel Zelaya who was deposed in the 2009 coup, was the presidential candidate of the party in the 2013 presidential election; Zelaya was not allowed to run for a second term under the constitution. Castro took second place in the four-way race, receiving approximately 29 percent of the vote behind Juan Orlando Hernández's 34 percent. Castro has stated that if she won the 2021 presidential election, she would promote democratic socialism and ask the National Congress to draft a new constitution. At least eighteen Libre pre-candidates, candidates, family members, and campaign leaders were killed between June 2012 and October 2013. Additionally, it is strongly opposed to free market capitalism and the neo-liberal economic model, and maintains a long-term goal of "establishing an alternative economic system." On 28 November 2021, Xiomara Castro, presidential candidate of Liberty and Refoundation, won 53% of the votes in the presidential election to become the first female president of Honduras. (en)
- Le Parti Liberté et Refondation (en espagnol: Partido Libertad y Refundación; Libre) est un parti politique hondurien de gauche qui cherche à rompre avec le bipartisme historique que maintiennent les partis traditionnels du pays, à savoir le Parti national du Honduras et le Parti libéral du Honduras et qui vise un nouveau modèle de l'État hondurien. Ce parti est né de la crise politique au Honduras de 2009, au cours de laquelle il y a eu un coup d'État contre le président constitutionnel de l'époque, Manuel Zelaya Rosales. À son retour au pays, Zelaya et ses associés s'unissent et se consolident en tant que septième parti politique enregistré dans le pays, participant pour la première fois aux élections générales de 2013 et dans lesquelles, ils ont fait preuve d'une large acceptation par la population et sont devenus la deuxième institution politique la plus importante du Honduras après le Parti national. En vue des élections générales de 2017, le Parti Liberté et Refondation s'est joint à une alliance avec le Parti de l'innovation et de l'unité en y présentant Salvador Nasralla comme candidat à la présidentielle. O ex presidente Manuel Zelaya vem liderando o partido desde sua desfiliação do Partido Liberal e filiação com a esquerda latino-americana seguindo os eventos do golpe de 2009. Sua esposa Xiomara Castro de Zelaya foi a candidata escolhida pelo partido para as eleições de 2013 já que de acordo com a constituição seu marido não estava autorizado a concorrer a um segundo mandato. Ao menos 18 candidatos, pré-candidatos, líderes de campanhas e membros de famílias associados ao Libre foram mortos entre junho de 2012 e Outubro de 2013 em Honduras.
