El nombre de la serie deriva de 'keitai' (携帯?), el término japonés para teléfono celular, haciendo las llamadas de teléfono a las criaturas una parte integral de los juegos, y fand, para simbolizar las varias bestias involucradas. En 26 de abril de 2002, una menos conocida secuela para la Game Boy Advance llamada Keitai Denjū Telefang 2 (携帯電獣テレファング２, Keitai Denjū Terefangu Tsū?. ""Mobile Phone Beast Telefang Two") fue lanzada exclusivamente en Japón. Así mismo, dos versiones fueron lanzadas, Power Versión (パワーバージョン, Pawā Bājon?) In the games, the player contacts various creatures using a mobile phone-like device in order to get them to battle the foes he or she will encounter. Released exclusively in Japan on November 3, 2000, the first game in the series was released for the Game Boy Color in two versions: Power Version (パワーバージョン, Pawā Bājon) and Speed Version (スピードバージョン, Supīdo Bājon). Each version features several exclusive creatures. The name of the series derives from keitai (携帯), the Japanese term for mobile phone, as making phone calls to the creatures is an integral part of the games, and fang, to symbolize the various beasts involved. On April 26, 2002, a sequel for the Game Boy Advance called Keitai Denjū Telefang 2 (携帯電獣テレファング２, Keitai Denjū Terefangu Tsū, lit. "Mobile Phone Beast Telefang 2") was released exclusively in Japan. La serie consiste in quattro titoli. I primi due videogiochi per Game Boy Color sono denominati Power Version (パワーバージョン Pawā Bājon?) e Speed Version (スピードバージョン Supīdo Bājon?) e distribuiti in Giappone il 3 novembre 2000. Nell'aprile 2002 sono stati prodotti due sequel della serie per Game Boy Advance, denominati Keitai Denjū Telefang 2 (携帯電獣テレファング２ Keitai Denjū Terefangu Tsū?), anche questi disponibili nelle due versioni Power e Speed. Sebbene i videogiochi non siano mai arrivati nel mercato occidentale, i Telefang sono diventati noti a causa dei bootleg Pokémon Diamond e Pokémon Jade. In questi titoli sono stati inseriti vari riferimenti al mondo dei Pokémon e create finte copertine con il logo della nota serie di videogiochi, basate su Pokémon Cristallo. Le copertine tuttavia mostravano Denjū non presenti del gioco: nella versione Jade è presente un personaggio del film Princess Mononoke. (it)
