- الصابون المضاد للحشرات مبني على الأحماض الدهنية للبوتاسيوم ويستخدم للتحكم في العديد من الآفات النباتية. لأن الصابون المضاد للحشرات يعمل فقط على الإتصال المباشر مع الآفات. ويتم رشها على النباتات بطريقة ما بحيث تكون مُبللة بأكملها. وهو أقل سُمية على الثدييات وبالتالي يُعتبرآمن لإستخدام الأطفال والحيوانات الأليفة له وربما يُستخدم في الزراعة العضوية. Because insecticidal soap works on direct contact with pests via the disruption of cell membranes when the insect is penetrated with fatty acids, the insect's cells leak their contents causing the insect to dehydrate and die. Insecticidal soap is sprayed on plants until the entire plant is saturated because the insecticidal properties of the soap occurs when the solution is wet. Soaps have a low mammalian toxicity and are therefore considered safe to be used around children and pets, and may be used in organic farming. (en)
- El jabón potásico es un producto a base de potasio que se usa en la limpieza del hogar y, sobre todo, en la jardinería, donde es un eficaz insecticida. Es usado a menudo en la agricultura ecológica y, aunque se dice que es biodegradable, en realidad no lo es ya que este al lixiviarse se incorpora a la tierra y es neutralizado por el efecto buffer. Por este motivo, una mala preparación puede provocar un exceso de hidroxilos y afectar el pH del suelo. Estos jabones son inocuos para los mamíferos pero hay que tener cuidado con los niños y mascotas, ya que si el jabón no es preparado correctamente puede afectarlos negativamente o producir irritaciones. También se utiliza como producto de limpieza en el hogar, ya que es un eficaz quitamanchas. El jabón potásico contiene tres ingredientes principales: agua, lípidos (generalmente aceite de oliva, de girasol, de canola, de maíz...) e hidróxido de potasio, también llamado potasa cáustica (KOH). - Zeepspiritus of zeepwater-spiritus is een milieuvriendelijk huismiddel als insecticide tegen bladluis, witte vlieg en spint op planten. Typisch wordt een samenstelling geadviseerd van 2% zachte zeep en 2% brandspiritus (ethanol) in water, d.w.z 20 gram van elk per liter. Dit mengsel wordt dan met een plantenspuit verneveld over de door bladluis aangetaste planten en zal de bladluizen die in contact komen met dit mengsel doden. "Zeep-spiritus" wordt genoemd voor bladluisbestrijding sinds het begin van de twintigste eeuw voor in Nederlandstalige boeken.. Zeepspiritus werd ook wel gebruikt voor het desinfecteren van chirurgische instrumenten. De zachte zeep, of preciezer: kaliumzouten van vetzuren (Engels: potassium salts of fatty acids), is het actieve bestanddeel en is als zodanig toegelaten op de Europese en Amerikaanse markten. Ethanol als actief bestanddeel wordt in de officiële registraties niet genoemd. Ook adviseren diverse Amerikaanse universiteiten zeepwater als insecticide zonder ethanol als middel tegen bladluis en diverse andere plagen. (nl)

Ha una bassa tossicità per i mammiferi, perciò è considerato sicuro e utilizzabile anche in presenza di bambini e animali domestici, inoltre il suo uso è ammesso nell'agricoltura biologica come corroborante.
