- التهاب اللثة والفم (ويعرف أيضا بالتهاب اللثة والفم الهيربسي الابتدائي أو هيربس الشفة ) وهو يضم التهاب اللثة والتهاب الفم، أو التهاب الغشاء المخاطي للفم واللثة. التهاب اللثة والفم الهيربسي عادة يكون العَرَض الأول للإصابة بالهيربس البسيط (هربس) لأول مره. وهو أكثر خطورة من هيربس الشفة (Herpes labialis)(قرحه الزكام و/أو هيربس الحمى والتي تكون عادة عَرَض لاحق. هيربس الفم واللثة الابتدائي هو الأكثر انتشارا ما بين العدوى الفيروسية للفم. التهاب اللثة والفم الفيروسي الابتدائي يمثل نمط العَرَض السريري للإصابة بفيروس الهيربس البسيط الابتدائي. وان الغالبية العظمى للإصابة الابتدائية بالعدوى تكون بلا أعراض. التهاب الفم واللثة الهيربسي الأولي يسببه بالدرجة الأولى فيروس هيربس 1 (HSV 1) ويؤثر بشكل رئيسي على الأطفال. ويُظهر أعراض بادريّه كالحمّى، فقدان الشهية، تهيّج، توعك وصداع، قد تحدث مع تقدم المرض. يظهر المرض كحويصلات متعددة تشبه رأس الدبوس، والتي تتفتق سريعاً لتشكل تقرّحات مؤلمه غير منتظمة يغطيها غشاء أصفر أو رمادي اللون. التهاب الغدة اللمفيه تحت الفك السفلي، رائحة الفم الكريهة (بخر فموي)والامتناع عن الأكل هي عاده حالات مصاحبه. - Una gingivoestomatitis és una combinació de gingivitis i estomatitis, o una inflamació de la i la geniva. La gingivoestomatitis herpètica és sovint la presentació inicial durant la primera infecció ("primària") per herpes simple. És de major gravetat que l'herpes labial, que sovint són les presentacions posteriors. La gingivoestomatitis herpètica primària (GEHP) és la infecció viral més freqüent de la boca. La gingivoestomatitis herpètica primària (GEHP) representa el patró clínicament aparent de la infecció pel virus herpes simple (VHS) primari, ja que la gran majoria d'altres infeccions primàries no tenen símptomes. La GEHP és causat principalment per VHS-1 i afecta principalment a nens. Es poden produir símptomes prodromals, com febre, anorèxia, irritabilitat, malestar i mal de cap, abans de la malaltia. La malaltia es presenta com a nombroses vesícules, que es trenquen ràpidament per formar ulceracions irregulars i doloroses cobertes per membranes groc-grises. La limfadenitis submandibular, halitosi i negativa a beure són aparèixer habituals. (ca)

Herpetic gingivostomatitis is often the initial presentation during the first ("primary") herpes simplex infection. It is of greater severity than herpes labialis (cold sores) which is often the subsequent presentations. Primary herpetic gingivostomatitis is the most common viral infection of the mouth. Primary herpetic gingivostomatitis (PHGS) represents the clinically apparent pattern of primary herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection, since the vast majority of other primary infections are symptomless. PHGS is caused predominantly by HSV-1 and affects mainly children. Prodromal symptoms, such as fever, anorexia, irritability, malaise and headache, may occur in advance of disease. The disease presents as numerous pin-head vesicles, which rupture rapidly to form painful irregular ulcerations covered by yellow–grey membranes. Sub-mandibular lymphadenitis, halitosis and refusal to drink are usual concomitant findings. (en)
