- غسان عبد الله الشربي هو مواطن سعودي معتقل حالياً خارج نطاق القضاء في معتقلات خليج غوانتانامو الأمريكية في كوبا، رقم الاعتقال المتسلسل الخاص به هو 682. ولد غسان في 28 ديسمبر 1974 في جدة بالمملكة العربية السعودية، وتخرج من جامعة إمبري ريدل للطيران في بريسكوت بأريزونا مع شهادة في الهندسة الكهربائية. ألقي القبض عليه في فيصل آباد في باكستان في مارس 2002، ونُقِلَ إلى معتقل غوانتانامو في وقت لاحق من ذلك العام، وفي عام 2006 أخبر الشربي لجنة عسكرية أنه كان عضوًا في تنظيم القاعدة وفخورًا بتصرفاته ضد الولايات المتحدة، ولكن أُسقِطَت تهمة ارتكاب جرائم حرب خطيرة عنه في أكتوبر 2008، حيث تبين أنها استندت إلى أدلة تم الحصول عليها من خلال تعذيب أبي زبيدة. واعتبارًا من يناير 2020 فإنه غسان يكون قد قضى حوالي 18 سنة في معتقل غوانتانامو. - Ghassan Abdallah Ghazi al-Sharbi is a Saudi currently held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number is 682. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona with a degree in electrical engineering.The US Department of Defense reports that he was born on December 28, 1974, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Captured in Faisalabad, Pakistan in March 2002, al-Sharbi was transferred to Guantanamo Bay later that year. In 2006, al-Sharbi told a military commission that he was a member of al-Qaeda and proud of his actions against the United States. Serious war crimes charges were dropped against him in October 2008, as it had been found they were based on evidence gained through torture of Abu Zubaydah. Al-Sharbi had a habeas corpus petition which his father had initiated on his behalf; when it reached the court in March 2009, al-Sharbi requested that it be dismissed. He did not want to pursue it. As of June 17, 2018, Ghassan Abdallah Ghazi al-Sharbi has been held at Guantanamo for sixteen years. (en)
