- False Bay (afrikánsky Valsbaai, česky Nepravá zátoka) je mořský záliv Atlantského oceánu na samém jihu Afriky. Nachází se 20 km jižně od Kapského Města a je vymezen mysem na východě a mysem Dobré naděje (resp. ) na západě. Název získal podle toho, že nezkušení námořníci při obeplouvání Afriky směrem na západ často považovali mys Hangklip již za mys Dobré naděje a odbočovali do této zátoky v domnění, že už obeplouvají Kapský poloostrov cestou do (Table Bay) s přístavem Kapské Město. Díky proudu Střelkového mysu (který v těchto místech končí), má Nepravá zátoka poměrně teplou vodu, v zimě jsou zde však časté bouře vyvolané mísením se studeným Západním příhonem a Benguelským proudem ze západu. Prvním Evropanem, který oblast navštívil, byl roku 1488 Bartolomeo Dias a pojmenoval ji Golfo dentro das Serras (Záliv mezi horami). Většina pobřeží zátoky je tvořena pohořím , dosahujícím až 1788 metrů nad mořem, jen na severu je (Cape Flats) s písečnými plážemi. V zálivu se nachází ostrůvek , dlouhý 800 metrů a široký 50 metrů. Oblast je významným turistickým centrem, vyhledávají ji rybáři, potápěči a jachtaři, je zde možno pozorovat vzácné živočichy (lachtan jihoafrický, žralok bílý, velryba jižní). Ve městě má svoji největší základnu Jihoafrické námořnictvo. (cs)

- False Bay (Afrikaans Valsbaai) is a body of water in the Atlantic Ocean between the mountainous Cape Peninsula and the Hottentots Holland Mountains in the extreme south-west of South Africa. The mouth of the bay faces south and is demarcated by Cape Point to the west and Cape Hangklip to the east. The north side of the bay is the low-lying Cape Flats, and the east side is the foot of the Hottentots Holland Mountains to Cape Hangklip which is at nearly the same latitude as Cape Point. In plan the bay is approximately square, being roughly the same extent from north to south as east to west, with the southern side open to the ocean. The seabed slopes gradually down from north to south, and is mostly fairly flat unconsolidated sediments. Much of the bay is off the coast of the City of Cape Town, and it includes part of the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area and the whole of the Helderberg Marine Protected Area. The name "False Bay" was applied at least three hundred years ago by sailors returning from the east who confused Cape Point and Cape Hangklip, which are somewhat similar in form. False Bay is at the extreme western end of the inshore Agulhas marine ecoregion which extends from Cape Point to the Mbashe river over the continental shelf, in the overlap zone between Cape Agulhas and Cape Point where the warm Agulhas Current and the cooler South Atlantic waters mix. The continental shelf is at its widest in this ecoregion, extending up to 240 km offshore on the Agulhas Bank, but is considerably narrower off False Bay. This ecoregion has the highest number of South African marine endemics, and is a breeding area for many species. The transition between the Agulhas ecoregion and the cooler Benguela ecoregion is at Cape Point, on the western boundary of False Bay. False Bay also contains South Africa's largest naval base at Simon's Town (historically a base for the Royal Navy), and small fishing harbours at Kalk Bay and Gordon's Bay. (en)
- La baie False, en afrikaans Valsbaai, en anglais False Bay, est une baie sud-africaine, encadrée par la péninsule du Cap à l'ouest et par le à l'est. Elle est donc située à l'extrémité sud de la Cape Flats (la « Plaine du Cap ») à environ 20 km du centre-ville du Cap, au sud-est de celui-ci, dont elle dépend administrativement en grande partie. Elle est donc bordée par les quartiers et Townships méridionaux de l'agglomération. Lorsqu'elle fut découverte par le Portugais Bartolomeu Dias en 1488, celui-ci la baptisa « o golfo entre as montanhas » (le « golfe entre les montagnes »). Puis au moment de la colonisation, les marins la confondirent avec la baie de la Table située plus au nord, au bord de laquelle fut fondée la ville du Cap. En effet, pour les marins de retour de l'Est, notamment les Indes orientales néerlandaises, la forme du cap Hangklip est à peu près semblable à celle du Cape Point, promontoire situé à proximité du cap de Bonne-Espérance. De cette confusion est né le nom actuel de « False Bay », c'est-à-dire la « fausse baie ». La baie abrite un îlot rocheux baptisé l' (en), qui héberge une colonie d'otaries à fourrures du Cap, ainsi que des cormorans.

Vele schepen die terugkeerden uit het Verre Oosten, zagen aan de oostelijke kant van de baai aan als Kaap de Goede Hoop en voeren dus de 'valse baai' binnen. Daardoor krijgt Kaap Hangklip vaak de Portugese naam Cabo Falso ('Valse Kaap'). Dankzij de Agulhasstroom die daar stroomt, heeft het water in de baai een gematigde temperatuur. Vele schilderachtige vissersdorpjes en vakantieoorden zijn in de jaren naast de kustlijn van de Valsbaai ontstaan. Bekende voorbeelden zijn Vishoek, Muizenberg, Strand en Gordonsbaai.
