- Der 3. Eurovision Young Musicians fand am 27. Mai 1986 im Koncerthuset in Kopenhagen in Dänemark statt. Ausrichter war Danmarks Radio, das erstmals diesen Wettbewerb ausrichtete. Siegerin der Ausgabe 1986 wurde die französische Pianistin Sandrine Lazarides. Es war der erste Sieg Frankreichs im Wettbewerb. Auf Platz 2 hingegen landete die Schweizer Pianistin Marian Rosenfeld, während der finnische Cellist Jan-Erik Gustafsson Platz 3 belegte. (de)
- The Eurovision Young Musicians 1986 was the third edition of the Eurovision Young Musicians, held at the Koncerthuset, in Copenhagen, Denmark on 27 May 1986. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR), musicians from five countries participated in the televised final. Despite the contest being held in Copenhagen, host country Denmark failed to qualify for the final alongside Germany, Austria, Israel, Belgium, Norway, Ireland, Sweden, Netherlands and Italy. The participant artists could not be older than 19 by the time of the contest. The finalists were all accompanied by the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the leadership of Hans Graf. France's won the contest, with Switzerland and Finland placing second and third respectively. (en)

Des jeunes musiciens de 5 pays participèrent à la finale télévisée de cette édition. Ils furent tous accompagnés par l'Orchestre symphonique national du Danemark, sous la direction de Hans Graf. La France remporte pour la première fois le titre avec Sandrine Lazarides, avec un concerto pour piano réalisé par le pianiste hongrois du XIXe siècle, Franz Liszt. (fr)
