- Draw reins and running reins are pieces of riding equipment used for training that use the mechanical advantage of a 'single movable pulley' to cause the horse to bring its head down and inward. While a regular rein is the strap that attaches to the bit and is held by the rider, these types of reins slide through the bit ring, adding leverage to the rider's hands and arms, allowing the rider to force the horse's head into a desired position. Usage of the term in English riding and Western riding disciplines refers to slightly different designs that nonetheless work on essentially the same leverage principles. (en)

Schleifen — «ковзати» і Zügel — «поводи») — допоміжний засіб для виїздки молодого коня; додатковий повід, пропущений через кільця, які з'єднаний короткими ремінцями з кільцями трензеля, і пристебнутий кінцями до попруги або передньої частини сідла. Ковзні поводи складаються з двох ременів довжиною близько 2,75 м. З одного боку кінці ременів прикріплюються на висоті коліна вершника до попруги. Звідси вони з внутрішньої сторони проходять через кільця нижче його і закінчуються в руці вершника; правий повід проходить через праве кільце трензеля в праву руку вершника, а лівий повід — у ліву.
