- الجريمة في إيطاليا موجودة بأشكال مختلفة، وتتميز أساسا بوجود مافيا دقيقة التنظيم في مناطق معينة من إيطاليا، والتي امتدت إلى الشمال ثم إلى خارج الحدود الإقليمية لإيطاليا. تكافح الجريمة في دولة إيطاليا من قبل وكالات إنفاذ القانون الإيطالية. ويتم السهر على مكافحتها وتطبيق القوانين من طرف قوات ثمانية فروع منفصلة ، ستة منها مجموعات وطنية في إيطاليا. في العام 2005 بلغ تعداد أفراد العاملين في قوات لجميع الوكالات حوالي 324,339، وهو أعلى رقم في كل أوروبا بالنسبة للفرد الواحد، وضعفي ماهو موجود في المملكة المتحدة. وعموماً تعرف إيطاليا باستثناء ظاهرة المافيا التي باتت عالمية، استقراراً أمنياً واجتماعياً في معظم المناطق، وتعتبر أقل دول الاتحاد الأوروبي في جرائم العنف الجنسي باستثناء بعض النسب في مناطق الشمال.وتعتبر إيطاليا أقل الدول الأوربية من حيث جرائم العنصرية والكراهية للأجانب، ساعد على ذلك طبيعة وثقافة الشعب الإيطالي العريقة عبر العصور، حيث يعد من أكثر شعوب شمال المتوسط والعالم تسامحاً وتقبّلاً للاختلاف. - Crime in Italy ranks from low to moderate, but is present in several forms, such as murder, sexual violence, corruption, and several more. However, Italy is most notorious for its organised crime groups, present worldwide, known as the Italian Mafia. These crimes are combated by the spectrum of Italian law enforcement agencies, composed of Carabinieri, Polizia, and Guardia di Finanza. Italy holds the 8th position in Europe in regards to the number of law enforcement per 100 thousand people with 453 units, compared to the European average which is 335. Although crime covers the Italian Peninsula, Italy holds some of the lowest toll of rapes and murders in the European Union. Out of 128 countries, Italy is the 40th safest country in the world. (en)
