- Cold Case Hammarskjöld is a 2019 documentary film by Danish film maker Mads Brügger. It depicts the death of Dag Hammarskjöld in the 1961 Ndola United Nations DC-6 crash and proposes a theory that a white supremacist organization attempted to spread HIV/AIDS among black Africans. The film investigates the possibility that Hammarskjöld's plane, which crashed in Northern Rhodesia, was shot down by Belgian-British mercenary pilot . After unsuccessful attempts to conclusively prove that theory, the film veers off to investigate the mysterious mercenary organization South African Institute for Maritime Research (SAIMR), managing to contact two new witnesses that claim to have been involved with the organization. Parts of the movie are meta-cinematic, reflecting upon theatrical methods used (role playing, dressing up and employment of two African secretaries) and the true motivations of the filmmaker. (en)

- Cold Case Hammarskjöld è un documentario del 2019, diretto dal filmmaker e giornalista danese Mads Brügger. Il film tratta il caso, tuttora irrisolto, della morte del Segretario Generale dell'ONU Dag Hammarskjöld, avvenuta nel 1961 in un misterioso incidente aereo, mentre si trovava in missione nella Rodesia del Nord (attuale Zambia). Il regista Mads Brügger indaga al caso affiancato dal giornalista svedese Göran Björkdahl, che nel 2011 con un articolo pubblicato su The Guardian sosteneva che l'aereo di Hammarskjöld fosse stato abbattuto dal pilota belga Jan van Risseghem. Il film propone, inoltre, una teoria complottista che ipotizza il coinvolgimento nell'assassinio di una milizia segreta di mercenari attiva in Sudafrica, coinvolta in un piano di diffusione dell'HIV in Africa, teoria quest'ultima contestata dopo l'uscita del film da un articolo del New York Times. Cold Case Hammarskjöld è stato presentato il 26 gennaio in concorso al Sundance Film Festival nella sezione World Cinema Documentary, vincendo il premio per la miglior regia. In Italia il film è stato presentato il 9 giugno al Biografilm Festival nel Concorso Internazionale, e in seguito il 30 agosto come evento fuori concorso alle Giornate degli Autori durante la 76ª Mostra internazionale d'arte cinematografica di Venezia. Il film è stato selezionato tra i tre finalisti del Premio Lux 2019, riconoscimento attribuito dal Parlamento europeo ad opere cinematografiche europee che si distinguono per la capacità di trattare temi rilevanti nel dibattito socio-politico e dunque di contribuire alla costruzione di una comune identità.
