- Moravští indiáni (anglicky Moravian tribes) byli ti členové kmenů původních amerických obyvatel, indiánů ze severovýchodní části dnešních USA – Delawarů (Lenapů), Mohawků, Mohykánů – kteří byli ve druhé polovině 18. století evangelizováni protestantskou církví Moravských bratří, misionářů navazujících na tradice staré české Jednoty bratrské. Tito indiáni se z lesů přesunuli do nových křesťanských vesnic a byla věnována péče jejich zcivilizování (v evropském duchu), s přihlédnutím k jejich zvykům. Misionáři kladli důraz na pokojné soužití a sblížení obou ras, rudé i bílé, snažili se zejména chránit pokřtěné indiány před útlakem a zabíjením ze strany bělošských, především anglických kolonistů; ovšem i přes tyto ušlechtilé snahy byly jejich osady opakovaně likvidovány. Moravští indiáni se později (1791) přesunuli do Horní Kanady, kde nakonec zakotvili na samém jihu dnešní provincie Ontario; i tam ovšem trpěli pronásledováním během americko-britských bojů. V roce 1884 jich zbývalo ještě 275 lidí, později jejich počet vzrostl a v roce 1906, podle kanadské oficiální zprávy, dosahoval počtu 348 lidí. K roku 2011 žilo v rezervaci „Moravian 47“ 555 registrovaných moravských indiánů. (cs)
- Mit Christliche Munsee oder Mährische Indianer werden Indianer vom Stamm der Munsee-Lenape bezeichnet, die von Missionaren der Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert zum Christentum bekehrt wurden. Die Munsee-Lenape lebten im 17. Jahrhundert etwa in der Gegend, in der die heutigen Bundesstaaten New York, Pennsylvania und New Jersey zusammentreffen, das heißt im nördlichen New Jersey, im südöstlichen New York und östlichen Pennsylvania. Zu ihnen gehörten zum Beispiel die , , Canarsee und Wappinger. Durch den Druck der europäischen Siedler wurden sie ab 1650 nach Westen gedrängt und schlossen sich zusammen. Die Gruppen aus dem Land östlich des Hudson Rivers zogen sich ins Inland zurück und ließen sich in abgelegenen Regionen nieder. Zu Beginn des 18. Jahrhunderts setzte sich dieser Trend fort, die Minisink zogen nordwestlich zum nördlichen Arm des Susquehanna Rivers, und viele Munsee sprechende Lenape aus dem Hudsontal vereinigten sich mit ihnen. Im Laufe der Zeit änderte sich der Name für diese neue Gruppierung von Minisink in Munsee oder Muncie. (de)
- The Christian Munsee are a group of Lenape (also known as Delaware), an Indigenous people in the United States, that primarily speak Munsee and have converted to Christianity, following the teachings of Moravian missionaries. The Christian Munsee are also known as the Moravian Munsee or the Moravian Indians, the Moravian Christian Indians or, in context, simply the Christian Indians. As the Moravian Church transferred some of their missions to other Christian denominations, such as the Methodists, Christian Munsee today belong to the Moravian Church, Methodist Church, United Church of Canada, among other Christian denominations. The Christian Munsee tribe has produced several people who have become notable figures in Christianity and the Delaware Nation as a whole, such as Gelelemend (a Lenape chief), John Henry Kilbuck (a Moravian Christian missionary to the Native peoples in Alaska), Papunhank (a Moravian Lenape diplomat and preacher), Glikhikan (Munsee chief, Moravian elder, and Christian martyr), and Washington Jacobs (a chief of the Moravian of the Thames reservation). Present-day Christian Munsee communities include Moravian of the Thames, the Christian Munsee tribe in Kansas, and the Stockbridge–Munsee Community. (en)
