- Bukit Tigapuluh National Park (also called Bukit Tiga Puluh and Bukit Tigapulah) - The Thirty Hills - is a 143,223 hectare National Park in eastern Sumatra, consisting primarily of tropical lowland forest, largely in Riau province, with a smaller part of 33,000 ha in Jambi province. It is famous as one of the last refuges of endangered species such as the Sumatran orangutan, Sumatran tiger, Sumatran elephant, and Asian tapir, as well as many endangered bird species. It forms part of the Tesso Nilo Complex biodiversity hotspot. The Park is inhabited by the indigenous peoples of the Orang Rimba and tribes. The Park itself has been under consistent threat from illegal logging and palm oil plantations, with two thirds of the park logged. (en)

Taman Nasional Bukit Tiga Puluh terletak pada lintas provinsi dan kabupaten, yaitu di Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu dan Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir di provinsi Riau, dan Kabupaten Tebo dan Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat di provinsi Jambi. Taman Nasional Bukit Tiga Puluh ditetapkan sebagai kawasan taman nasional melalui Surat Keputusan Menteri Kehutanan Nomor 539/KPTS-II/1995. Taman ini memiliki luas kira-kira 143.143 hektare dan secara ekologi, Taman Nasional Bukit Tiga Puluh merupakan kawasan yang memiliki tipe ekosistem hutan tropis dataran rendah, sehingga mempunyai keanekaragaman hayati yang tinggi dan hampir seluruh spesies flora dan fauna di Pulau Sumatra, terdapat di kawasan taman nasional ini. Taman Nasional Bukit Tiga Puluh merupakan tempat terakhir bagi spesies terancam seperti orang utan sumatra, harimau sumatra, gajah sumatra, badak sumatra, tapir asia, beruang madu dan berbagai spesies burung yang terancam. Taman Nasional Bukit Tiga Puluh juga merupakan tempat tinggal bagi Orang Rimba dan Orang Talang Mamak. Kawasan Taman Nasional Bukit Tiga Puluh menjadi 20 kawasan prioritas global untuk konservasi harimau oleh pakar spesies pada tahun 2006 dan juga dijadikan sebagai daerah perlindungan untuk proyek pelepas-liaran orang utan sumatra.
