Créée en 1959 par Jean Roba, elle a été reprise en 2003 par Laurent Verron puis fin 2016 par le scénariste Christophe Cazenove et le dessinateur Jean Bastide. Ils ont été rendus célèbres par le magazine de bande dessinée belge Spirou, où ils apparaissent pour la première fois dans le numéro 1132. Il s'agit alors d'une courte histoire imaginée en collaboration avec Maurice Rosy et Vicq. Après deux histoires complètes, leurs aventures sont publiées en série sous forme de gags hebdomadaires.
