- Bolo Pasha, originally named Paul Bolo, (24 September 1867, Marseilles – 17 April 1918, Vincennes) was a Frenchman who was a Levantine financier, traitor, and a German agent. The New York Times wrote that he "circumnavigated the globe, engaged in various curious occupations, participated in many shady schemes." The French secret police and Scotland Yard failed to collect enough evidence to convict him of treason, but he was eventually convicted with the help of evidence collected by the New York Attorney General. He was executed by firing squad on April 17, 1918. (en)

Efter att ha prövat diverse yrken och bland annat inlett bekantskap med Joseph Caillaux blev Bolo 1914 ekonomiskt ombud för den egyptiske kediven Abbas Hilmi, som förlänade honom titeln pascha. I storspekulativt syfte och med kediven som garant inledde han förbindelser med ledande statsmän i Tyskland som Gottlieb von Jagow, Johann Heinrich von Bernstorff med flera, vilka han lyckades intressera för en fantastisk plan om fredspropaganda i Frankrike under kriget, förmedlad genom tyskt förvärv av inlytelserika franska tidningar, bland annat Le Journal och Le Figaro. Genom en händelse avslöjades han 1917, häktades och avrättades för högförräderi. (sv)
