- Bokator is an ancient battlefield martial art used by ancient Khmer military groups. It is one of the oldest existing fighting systems originating from Cambodia. Oral tradition indicates that bokator (or an early form thereof) was the close quarter combat system used by the ancient Cambodian armies before the founding of Angkor. A common misconception is that bokator refers to all Khmer/Cambodian martial arts, while in reality it only represents one particular style. (en)
- Le Bokator (ល្បុក្កតោ), Bok signifiant « cogner », -a pour « le » et -tor pour « lion », est le plus vieil art martial d'origine khmère. Son origine remonte au IIIe siècle environ ; certains disent qu'il aurait plus de 2 000 ans. - Bokator (ល្បុក្កតោ) è un'arte marziale cambogiana, da cui è derivata la versione moderna e sportiva Pradal Serey, anche nota come khmer boxing. Presenta diverse similitudini con la "vicina" Mae Mai Muay Thai: un largo uso di tecniche di gomito e ginocchio, soprattutto nelle fasi di combattimento ravvicinato, tipologie di calci circolari (roundhouse kick) separate da differenze molto piccole e l'uso di posizioni di difesa/attacco quasi identiche. Una delle tecniche più note di quest'arte marziale,ad esempio, è la combinazione di ginocchiata saltata e gomitata discendente. (it)

Nazwa oparta jest na dawnej legendzie, wedle której pewien wojownik miał bez użycia broni pokonać lwa. Sceny przedstawiające różne techniki walki widnieją na płaskorzeźbach w Angkorze. Niewielu mistrzów przeżyło masakry ze strony Czerwonych Khmerów. Aktualnie czynione są wysiłki mające na celu odrodzenie tej formy walki wręcz. (pl)
