Ιδρύθηκε το 1858 και είναι ο παλαιότερος ανοικτός σύλλογος ράγκμπι στον κόσμο από το 1862. Το «ανοικτός» σε αυτό το πλαίσιο σημαίνει ότι η συμμετοχή ήταν ελεύθερη για όλους, όχι μόνο για όσους φοιτούσαν ή ήταν παλαιά μέλη ενός συγκεκριμένου ιδρύματος (π.χ. σχολείο, πανεπιστήμιο ή νοσοκομείο). - Blackheath Football Club is a rugby union club based in Well Hall, Eltham in south-east London. The club was founded in Blackheath in 1858, and is the fourth-oldest rugby club in continuous existence in the world, after Dublin University Football Club (1854), Liverpool St Helens F.C. (1857) and Edinburgh Academical Football Club (1857). The Blackheath club also assisted in organising the world's first rugby international (between England and Scotland in Edinburgh on 27 March 1871) and hosted the first international between England and Wales ten years later – the players meeting and getting changed at the Princess of Wales public house. Blackheath, along with Civil Service F.C., is one of the two clubs that can claim to be a founder member of both The Football Association and the Rugby Football Union. The club currently play in National League 2 East, the fourth tier of the English rugby union system, with matches played at Well Hall, after a move from Rectory Field in Blackheath at the end of the 2015–16 season. - Il Blackheath Football Club, anche nota semplicemente come The Club, è una squadra professionistica britannica di rugby a 15 e, in passato, anche di calcio, la cui sede è nel sobborgo londinese di Blackheath. Istituito nel 1858 da alcuni studenti di una scuola del sobborgo, il Blackheat FC fu il primo — ed è tuttora il più antico in attività — club open, vale a dire l'iscrizione alle cui attività era permessa non solo agli studenti ma anche ad altri praticanti; il club è inoltre famoso per essere l'unico, insieme al Civil Service F.C., ad avere partecipato sia alla fondazione della Football Association (la federazione calcistica inglese) nel 1863 che a quella della Rugby Football Union nel 1871.In aggiunta a ciò, è il terzo club più anziano tuttora in attività delle Isole Britanniche.
