- The A3 motorway (Romanian: Autostrada A3) is a partially built motorway in Romania, planned to connect Bucharest with the Transylvania region and the north-western part of the country. It will be 596 km long and will run along the route: Ploiești, Brașov, Făgăraș, Sighișoara, Târgu Mureș, Cluj-Napoca, Zalău and Oradea, connecting with Hungary's M4 motorway near Borș. As of December 2021, there are roughly 171 km (106 mi) in service: the Bucharest – Ploiești motorway (62.5 km), the Râșnov – Cristian segment (6.3 km), the Târgu Mureș – Chețani segment (36.1 km), the Câmpia Turzii – Nădășelu segment (61.2 km) and the Biharia – Borș segment (5.4 km). In January 2015, the motorway section between Târgu Mureș – Câmpia Turzii was awarded for construction. It was divided into two larger segments, with a total of five lots, which sum up 51.8 km. By December 2021, all segments have been opened to traffic, with the exception of Chețani − Câmpia Turzii (15.7 km), of which contract was terminated in March that year. Additional works on the Nădășelu – Borș section (approx. 157 km, in total) were auctioned between 2018 and 2019, with contracts awarded for the Biharia − Borș segment (5.4 km, near the border with Hungary) in December 2018, the Chiribiș − Biharia segment (28.6 km) in June 2020, and the Zimbor – Poarta Sălajului segment (12.2 km) on the same month. Several other segments are still pending to be awarded. Furthermore, on the Comarnic − Brașov section (58.0 km), the 5.2 km segment between Comarnic South – Comarnic North has been re-tendered in August 2020. (en)

- Die Autostrada A3 (rumänisch für ‚Autobahn A3‘), auch Autostrada Transilvania (rum. für ‚Siebenbürgenautobahn‘) genannt, ist eine künftige 588 Kilometer lange Autobahn, die auf der Route Bukarest – Ploiești – Brașov (Kronstadt) – Făgăraș (Fogarasch) – Sighișoara (Schäßburg) – Târgu Mureș (Neumarkt am Mieresch) – Cluj-Napoca (Klausenburg) – Zalău (Zillenmarkt) – Oradea (Großwardein) – Borș durch Siebenbürgen zur ungarischen Grenze führt und an die ungarische Autobahn M4 anschließen soll. Sie erhält außerdem Anschluss an das zukünftige Terminal 2 des Flughafens Bukarest-Otopeni. Für die Benutzung von Autobahnen und Nationalstraßen muss generell eine Vignette (rovignetă) erworben werden. (de)
- L'autoroute A3 ou Autoroute de Transylvanie (roumain: Autostrada Transilvania) est un projet d'autoroute en Roumanie de la Bechtel Corporation. Itinéraire : Bucarest - Ploiești - Brașov - Făgăraș - Sighișoara - Târgu Mureș - Cluj-Napoca - Zalău - Oradea - frontière hongroise. La construction du tronçon Brașov - Borș, d'une longueur de 415 km, a commencé en juin 2004. Le contrat signé entre le gouvernement roumain et l'entreprise américaine Bechtel a causé des problèmes importants au Parlement de Roumanie et avec l'Union européenne. Cependant le projet a été maintenu, vu le besoin urgent d'une alternative à la route nationale DN1, qui est la route la plus congestionnée de Roumanie en 2006. Une fois terminée, cette autoroute devrait supporter la plus grande partie du trafic automobile de l'est de l'Union européenne. Alors même que le contrat conclu entre l'État roumain et Bechtel a prorogé jusqu'au 31 décembre 2013 la date de finalisation de l'autoroute, les travaux sur 6 des 8 tronçons n'avaient pas commencé au 1er septembre 2010. Le tronçon Gilău - Turda a été inauguré le 1er décembre 2009, le tronçon Bucarest - Ploiești ouvert le 19 juillet 2012. (fr)
- De A3 of Transsylvaanse snelweg (Autostrada Transilvania) is een snelweg in aanbouw die de Roemeense hoofdstad verbindt met vele andere steden in Transsylvanië en de grens met Hongarije. Het wegverloop van de snelweg is als volgt: Boekarest - Ploiești - Brașov - (het stuk via Sighișoara naar Târgu Mureș wordt niet meer aangelegd) - Turda - Cluj-Napoca - Zalău - Oradea - Borș - Hongaarse grens.De snelweg loopt bijna gelijk aan de DN1, de meest bereden weg in Roemenië. Het oorspronkelijke contract voor de A3 over een lengte van 415 km was afgesloten met het Amerikaanse bedrijf Bechtel. Er ging zeer veel mis: Zo was er geen aanbesteding geweest en geen haalbaarheidsstudie uitgevoerd, De regering was onvoldoende op de hoogte van alle voorwaarden toen men over het contract besliste. Uiteindelijk werd in 2013 het contract opgezegd nadat slechts 52 km snelweg was aangelegd. De kosten bedroegen op dat moment 1,42 miljard euro. Hiermee was dit een van de duurste stukken snelweg ooit aangelegd. Justitie heeft nadien nooit een schuldige voor het echec kunnen vinden. In 2016 werd besloten het deel van de weg tussen Targu Mures en Brasov niet meer te bouwen. De verbinding naar Boekarest zal als alternatief vanaf Turda via de A10 (Roemenië) Sebeș - Turda naar Sebes. gaan en dan via de A1 naar de hoofdstad. De A3 Boekarest Brasov wordt wel verder uitgebouwd. (nl)
