- De World Touring Car Cup 2018 was het eerste seizoen van de World Touring Car Cup. Voorheen waren het World Touring Car Championship en de TCR International Series twee verschillende kampioenschappen, maar aangezien het WTCC kampte met kleiner wordende startvelden, werd besloten om de TCR-reglementen aan te nemen. Onder de nieuwe reglementen heeft het kampioenschap niet meer de status van wereldkampioenschap, maar die van "World Cup". Fabrieksteams zijn dit jaar niet meer toegestaan. Fabrikanten kunnen wel auto's bouwen om deze te verkopen aan privéteams. Maximaal 26 auto's kunnen zich inschrijven, waarbij er nog maximaal twee extra wildcards per evenement zijn toegestaan. Gabriele Tarquini werd kampioen in de laatste race van het seizoen op het Circuito da Guia door middel van het halen van een tiende plaats, wat genoeg was om zijn laatste rivaal Yvan Muller voor te blijven.
