- The 1st Parachute Chasseur Regiment (French: 1er Régiment de Chasseurs Parachutistes, 1er R.C.P) is the oldest and among the most decorated airborne regiments of the French Army. Established in the French Army in 1943 and formerly part of the French Air Force since 1937, the chasseur distinguished its Regimental Colors during the campaigns of the Liberation of Paris, the First Indochina War in 1947, 1950, 1953, 1954 and the Algerian War. This elite regiment is part of the 11th Parachute Brigade. The 1st Parachute Chasseur Regiment is the only French parachute regiment that traces its roots to the French Air Force, hence the representation of a golden Hawk on the rank insignia and that of uniforms and which originally referred to the 601st Airborne Infantry Group and 602nd Airborne Infantry Group respectively (601e G.I.A, 602e G.I.A). - Le 1er régiment de chasseurs parachutistes (ou 1er RCP) est reconnu comme le plus ancien des régiments parachutistes français. Il est constitué en 1943 au Maroc. Il se distingue lors des campagnes de libération de la France, d'Indochine et d'Algérie. Il est basé à Pamiers (Ariège) depuis 1999. Ce régiment d'élite appartient actuellement à la 11e brigade parachutiste. Étant l'un des héritiers d'unités parachutistes de l'Armée de l'air, le 1er RCP est le seul régiment parachutiste de l'Armée de terre à conserver les traces de son origine dans l'Armée de l'air ainsi qu'en témoignent les « charognards », symbolisant des éperviers, placés sur les fourreaux d'épaule des uniformes. De même l'insigne de ce régiment provient directement de celui du 601e GIA, Groupement d'infanterie de l'Air, avec une étoile de couleur bleu. Depuis le 31 janvier 2015, Jebsheim (Haut-Rhin) est la ville marraine du 1er Régiment de Chasseurs Parachutistes. (fr)
