- DDR-Oberliga 1988/1989 byla nejvyšší východoněmeckou fotbalovou soutěží v sezoně 1988/1989. Vítězem se stal a do Poháru mistrů evropských zemí 1989/1990 se kvalifikoval tým Dynamo Drážďany, v Poháru UEFA 1989/1990 startovaly týmy FC Karl-Marx-Stadt a FC Hansa Rostock. Účast v Poháru vítězů pohárů 1989/1990 si zajistil tým Berliner FC Dynamo jako vítěz východoněmeckého fotbalového poháru. (cs)

- The 1988–89 DDR-Oberliga was the 40th season of the DDR-Oberliga, the first tier of league football in East Germany. The league was contested by fourteen teams. Dynamo Dresden won the championship, the club's seventh out of eight East German championships. Torsten Gütschow of Dynamo Dresden was the league's top scorer with 17 goals, while Andreas Trautmann of Dynamo Dresden took out the seasons East German Footballer of the year award. On the strength of the 1988–89 title Dynamo Dresden qualified for the 1989–90 European Cup where the club was knocked out by AEK Athens in the first round. Second-placed club BFC Dynamo qualified for the 1989–90 European Cup Winners' Cup as the seasons FDGB-Pokal winners and was knocked out by AS Monaco in the second round. Third-placed FC Karl-Marx-Stadt qualified for the 1989–90 UEFA Cup where it was knocked out by Juventus in the third round while fourth-placed F.C. Hansa Rostock lost to FC Baník Ostrava in the first round. (en)

- La saison 1988-1989 du Championnat de RDA de football était la 42e édition du championnat de première division en RDA, la DDR-Oberliga. Les quatorze meilleurs clubs de RDA sont regroupés au sein d'une poule unique où ils se rencontrent deux fois au cours de la saison, à domicile et à l'extérieur. En fin de saison, les deux derniers du classement sont relégués et remplacés par les deux meilleurs clubs de DDR-Liga, la deuxième division est-allemande. Après dix ans de domination du Berliner FC Dynamo sur le football est-allemand, c'est le SG Dynamo Dresde qui remporte le championnat cette saison en terminant en tête du classement final, avec 8 points d'avance sur le tenant du titre et 10 sur le FC Karl-Marx-Stadt. C'est le 7e titre de champion de RDA de l'histoire du club. Le Berliner FC Dynamo perd son titre de champion mais conserve en revanche la Coupe de RDA en s'imposant en finale face au FC Karl-Marx-Stadt. (fr)
