- كرة القدم هي رياضة جماعية تلعب بين فريقين يتكون كل منهما من 11 لاعب بكرة مُكوَّرة. يلعب كرة القدم 250 مليون لاعب في أكثر من 200 دولة حول العالم، فتكون بذلك الرياضة الأكثر شعبية وانتشاراً في العالم. تُلعب كرة القدم في ملعب مستطيل مع مرميين في جانبيه. الهدف من اللعبة هو إحراز الأهداف عبر ركل الكرة داخل المرمى. حارس المرمى هو اللاعب الوحيد الذي يُسمح له أن يلمس الكرة بيديه أو ذراعيه، بشرط أن يكون داخل منطقة الجزاء الخاصة به. يستخدم اللاعبون غير الحارس أرجلهم غالباً في الهجوم أو تمرير الكرة كما يمكنهم استخدام رأسهم لضرب الكرة. الفريق الذي يحرز أهدافاً أكثر يكون هو الفائز. إذا أحرز الفريقان أهدافاً متعادلة في نهاية المباراة، فتكون نتيجة المباراة إما التعادل أو تدخل المباراة في نظام الوقت الإضافي وبعد ذلك إذا استمر التعادل في الأشواط الأضافية تذهب المباراة إلى الضربات الترجيحية ويعود ذلك إلى نظام البطولة. وضعت قوانين لعبة كرة القدم في إنجلترا بواسطة الاتحاد الإنجليزي لكرة القدم في سنة 1863. يترأس لعبة كرة القدم دولياً الإتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (الفيفا). تنظم بطولة كأس عالم لهذه الرياضة مرة كل أربع سنوات وهي البطولة الأهم دولياً. التعديلات في كرة القدم كثيرة وهذه هي بعض التعديلات التي اختصت في أغلب مجالات هذه اللعبة: (ar)

- Die Fußballregeln sind die offiziellen, internationalen und nationalen verbindlichen Ablaufformen und Verhaltensweisen bei der Durchführung des Fußballspieles. Die ersten wurden 1863 von der Football Association festgelegt. Im gleichen Maße, wie sich der Fußball Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts, in England beginnend, ausbreitete, entwickelten und verfeinerten sich die Regeln. In Deutschland legte 1874 der Braunschweiger Lehrer Konrad Koch (1846–1911) das erste Fußball-Regelwerk fest. Heute werden die Regeln in jährlichen Konferenzen zwischen der FIFA (Weltfußballverband) und dem International Football Association Board (IFAB) kontrolliert und gegebenenfalls angepasst. Es gibt im offiziellen Regelwerk der FIFA 17 Spielregeln, die 1938 neu gefasst und seitdem im Wesentlichen konstant geblieben sind. Die nationalen Fußballverbände können zusätzlich eigene Anweisungen herausgeben, die als Auslegungsrichtlinien anzusehen sind, allerdings nur im Bereich des jeweiligen Fußballverbandes Geltung haben. Neben Hinweisen auf gewollte Interpretationen von Regeln enthalten solche Anweisungen regelmäßig besondere Bestimmungen für Jugendspiele und Spiele von „Altherren“-Mannschaften, gelegentlich auch für Freundschafts- und Frauenspiele, um die Regeln auf die jeweiligen Gegebenheiten anzupassen. Ergänzend zu den Fußballregeln, die weitestgehend nur das Geschehen auf dem Platz regeln, gibt es weitere Bestimmungen, in denen die übrigen Details wie etwa die Spielberechtigung, aber auch Änderungen zu den Regeln wie beispielsweise bei der Zahl der Auswechselspieler oder der Möglichkeit der erneuten Einwechslung festgelegt sind. - The Laws of the Game are the codified rules of association football. The laws mention the number of players a team should have, the game length, the size of the field and ball, the type and nature of fouls that referees may penalize, the offside law, and many other laws that define the sport. During a match, it is the task of the referee to interpret and enforce the Laws of the Game. There were various attempts to codify rules among the various types of football in the mid-19th century. The extant Laws date back to 1863 where a ruleset was formally adopted by the newly formed Football Association. Over time, the Laws have been amended, and since 1886 they have been maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The Laws are the only rules of association football FIFA permits its members to use. The Laws currently allow some minor optional variations which can be implemented by national football associations, including some for play at the lowest levels, but otherwise almost all organized football worldwide is played under the same ruleset. Within the United States, Major League Soccer used a distinct ruleset during the 1990s and the National Federation of State High School Associations and National Collegiate Athletic Association still use rulesets that are comparable to, but different from, the IFAB Laws.
