- Velké čepobití (německy Großer Zapfenstreich) je čepobití – slavnostní vojenský ceremoniál Bundeswehru. Jedná se o nejvyšší vojenský ceremoniál Bundeswehru a je považován také za nejvyšší vyznamenání, které německé ozbrojené síly mohou udělit civilistovi. Nárok na ni mají spolkový prezident, spolkový kancléř a , nebo také generálové (admirál i viceadmirál) nebo generálporučíci po odchodu z aktivní služby. Obvykle se který koná večer za tmy a provádí jej speciální formace složená z pochodujících a ozbrojenců nesoucí pochodně. V Německu se ceremoniál pořádá přibližně 20–30× ročně, většina z nich bez větší mediální pozornosti. Zvláštní pozornosti veřejnosti se dostává Velkému čepobití pořádaného na rozloučenou předních federálních politiků, kteří odešli ze svého úřadu. (cs)
- Der Große Zapfenstreich ist eine feierliche, am Abend abgehaltene Militärzeremonie, die von einer speziellen, nur für diesen Zweck vorgesehenen Formation aus Militärmusikern, Bewaffneten und Fackelträgern durchgeführt wird. Er ist das protokollarisch höchstrangige militärische Zeremoniell der Bundeswehr und gilt als höchste Auszeichnung, welche die deutschen Streitkräfte einer Zivilperson zuteilwerden lassen können. Grundsätzlichen Anspruch auf eine Verabschiedung durch einen Großen Zapfenstreich haben Bundespräsident, Bundeskanzler und Bundesverteidigungsminister. Militärs im Range eines Generals oder Generalleutnants (bzw. eines Admirals oder Vizeadmirals) steht ebenfalls ein Zapfenstreich bei ihrem Ausscheiden aus dem aktiven Dienst zu. In seinem Ablauf stellt er eine Kunstform des ursprünglichen militärischen Zapfenstreichs dar und wird heute insbesondere zur Ehrung von Persönlichkeiten, vereinzelt bei öffentlichen Gelöbnissen, bei Verbandsjubiläen sowie zum Abschluss großer Manöver abgehalten. Die Gesamtdauer beträgt etwa 20 Minuten. Besondere öffentliche Aufmerksamkeit erhalten regelmäßig die Großen Zapfenstreiche zur Verabschiedung der aus dem Amt geschiedenen führenden Bundespolitiker. Tatsächlich findet die Mehrzahl der jährlich in Deutschland abgehaltenen Großen Zapfenstreiche aber ohne größere mediale Resonanz statt. - The Großer Zapfenstreich ("Grand Tattoo", "Beating Retreat") is a military ceremony performed in Germany and Austria. It is similar to the military tattoo ceremony performed in English-speaking countries, and is the most important ceremonial act executed by the German federal armed forces, the Bundeswehr, and by the Austrian federal armed forces Bundesheer. The Zapfenstreich is performed only during national celebrations and solemn public commemorations, to honour distinguished persons present at such special events. Examples are the farewell ceremony for a German federal president, or at the conclusion of large military exercises. It takes place in the evening hours and consists of a military formation of at least one military band, two platoons of armed infantrymen, and two lines of soldiers carrying torches, in total about 400 men. When foreign heads of state or military units are honoured, their respective national anthems are played. (en)
