- Yoram Ish-Hurwitz (born 1968 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch pianist. He began his studies with Danièle Dechenne and Jan Wijn at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. In 1993 he was the first Dutch pianist to graduate from the Juilliard School in New York with the Hungarian pianist György Sándor. Finally he was admitted to the soloist class of the renowned piano teacher Karl-Heinz Kämmerling with whom he studied for another two years. In 1988 he won the second prize at the in Rotterdam. Three years later he was awarded the by a unanimous international jury. Since then he has frequently performed in The Netherlands, including many times in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. He is also a regular guest as soloist with many orchestras and has given recitals in Norway, Germany, Slovakia, Italy and the United Kingdom amongst other countries and has taken part in a large number of international festivals such as Bergen, Trondheim and Brighton. His discography includes works by Franz Schubert, Frédéric Chopin, Modest Mussorgsky and Sergei Prokofiev, as well as the complete Années de Pèlerinage by Franz Liszt and the complete Iberia-suite by Isaac Albéniz. - Yoram Ish-Hurwitz (Amsterdam, 1968) is een Nederlandse pianist. Hij begon zijn studie bij Danièle Dechenne en Jan Wijn aan het Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. Als eerste Nederlandse pianist studeerde hij vervolgens gedurende twee jaar aan de Juilliard School in New York bij de Hongaarse pianist . Na het voltooien van deze studie werd hij opgenomen in de solistenklas van de vermaarde pianopedagoog in Hannover bij wie hij eveneens twee jaar studeerde. In 1988 won hij de tweede prijs op het in Rotterdam. Drie jaar later werd hem door een internationale jury unaniem de toegekend. Sindsdien treedt hij veelvuldig op in Nederland, waaronder vele malen in het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Daarnaast is hij regelmatig te gast als solist bij verschillende orkesten en gaf hij recitals in Noorwegen, Duitsland, Slowakije, Tsjechië, Italië, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en de Verenigde Staten. Sinds 2003 is hij een Steinway Artist. Vanaf 2010 is Ish-Hurwitz artistiek leider van , een jaarlijks muziekfestival in zijn Friese woonplaats Oranjewoud. Van Ish-Hurwitz zijn acht solo-cd's verschenen met werken van Franz Schubert, Frédéric Chopin, Modest Moussorgsky, Sergej Prokofjev en de integrale uitvoering van de 'Années de Pèlerinage' van Franz Liszt en 'Iberia' van Isaac Albéniz. Hij is een oom van de violiste Noa Wildschut, met wie hij in 2017 een cd opnam. (nl)
