- Wout Wagtmans (Rucphen, 10 de novembre de 1929 - , 15 d'agost de 1994) va ser un ciclista neerlandés que tant va destacar en carretera com en pista. Fou professional entre 1950 i 1961, aconseguint 42 victòries. Els triomfs més destacats foren quatre etapes al Tour de França, tres al Giro d'Itàlia i el Tour de Romandia de . Wout Wagtmans era un ciclista molt popular, per la seva combativitat i entusiasme. Rebia molts renoms: Olijke Woutje, Dik Trom, Zoeloe, de Clown i het Kemphaantje. En retirar-se del ciclisme professional dirigí l'equip neerlandès del Tour de França 1967 que girava al voltat de Jan Janssen. Després d'això agafà les regnes del negoci familiar de transport. (ca)

Gemeinsam mit Wim van Est zählte er in den 1950er Jahren zu den besten und vielseitigsten Radsportlern der Niederlande. 1947 begann Wout Wagtmans als Amateur seine Radsport-Karriere; 1949 wurde er Niederländischer Straßenmeister der Amateure. 1950 wurde er gezwungenermaßen Profi, da er Geld für einen Sieg genommen haben sollte. In den folgenden Jahren nahm Wout Wagtmans achtmal an der Tour de France teil. Dreimal – 1954, 1955 und 1956 – trug er das Gelbe Trikot. Bei der Tour de France 1953 erlangte er einen Etappensieg im Sprint gegen Gino Bartali und wurde Fünfter in der Gesamtwertung, 1956 Sechster. Auch gewann er drei Etappen des Giro d’Italia, 1940 die Ronde van Noord-Holland, 1952 die Tour de Romandie, zweimal, 1950 und 1952, die Acht van Chaam, 1960 die Vier-Kantone-Rundfahrt sowie eine große Anzahl von Eintagesrennen im Laufe seiner elfjährigen Profizeit. Wagtmans fuhr auch auf der Bahn, als Steher wie auch bei Sechstagerennen. 1957 wurde er Dritter der Steher-Weltmeisterschaft. 1961 beendete er seine aktive Karriere, fungierte aber noch einige Zeit als Sportlicher Leiter. - Wouter "Wout" Wagtmans (10 November 1929 – 15 August 1994) was a Dutch road bicycle racer. Together with Wim van Est he belonged to the generation that brought great popularity to cycling in the Netherlands in the 1950s. In 1947, Wagtmans started as amateur, and two years later he became Dutch champion. In 1950 he was forced to be a professional cyclist, because he was said to take money after a victory. In his first day as a professional cyclist, he entered the Dutch professional championship, and only Gerrit Schulte could keep ahead of him. After that, he had a glorious career. He entered the Tour de France eight times, and wore the yellow jersey in 1954, 1955 and 1956. He won four stages: in 1953 in Gap he beat Gino Bartali in the final sprint, and ended fifth in the overall standings. Two years later he was the third Dutch winner in Bordeaux. He also won three stages in the Giro d'Italia and several one-day races. He was also successful as a track rider and, together with Wim van Est, in two-up time trials. Wout Wagtmans was a very popular cyclist, both because of his combativity and his enthusiasm. He received many nicknames, Olijke Woutje, Dik Trom, Zoeloe, de Clown and het Kemphaantje. He ended his cycling career in 1961, and in 1967 he was the leader of the Dutch Tour de France team, centered on Jan Janssen. After that he took over his father's transport company. At the end of the 1980s, he had a serious accident after which he was declared physically disabled. Wagtmans died in 1994, at the age of 64. Wout Wagtmans was the uncle of another successful cyclist, Rini Wagtmans. (en)
