- Die World Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists (WATOC) ist eine Organisation für Theoretische Chemie. Sie wurde 1982 unter dem Namen World Association of Theoretical Organic Chemists gegründet, änderte ihren Namen aber, da die Begrenzung auf theoretische organische Chemie zu eng war. Die Mitgliedschaft steht Wissenschaftlern in theoretischer Chemie bzw. Computerchemie offen. Sie veranstalten alle drei Jahre den WATOC Congress, der zuerst 1987 in Budapest stattfand und zum Beispiel 2017 in München (mit rund 1500 Teilnehmern, organisiert von Christian Ochsenfeld) und 2002 in Lugano. Der Kongress alterniert mit dem International Congress of Quantum Chemistry der IAQMS. Sie vergeben die Schrödinger Medal und eine Dirac-Medaille für Nachwuchswissenschaftler unter 40 Jahren. (de)
- La World Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists (WATOC, en français : Association mondiale des chimistes théoriciens et numériciens) est une association académique fondé en 1982 « afin d'encourager le développement et l'application de méthodes théoriques » en chimie et particulièrement en chimie quantique et chimie numérique. Elle fut d'abord nommée World Association of Theoretical Organic Chemists (Association mondiale des chimistes théoriques organiciens) puis World Association of Theoretically Oriented Chemists (Association mondiale des chimistes s'orientant vers la théorie) avant de prendre sa désignation actuelle. La WATOC organise un congrès mondial triannuel (le congrès de 2008 s'est tenu à Sydney en Australie) et de nombreuses conférences plus petites sur des sujets plus spécialisés. L'association délivre deux prix annuels : la médaille Schrödinger pour « le chimiste numéricien le plus extraordinaire au monde n'ayant pas reçu cette distinction » et la médaille Dirac pour « le chimiste numéricien le plus extraordinaire au monde en dessous de 40 ans ». Parmi les présidents de la WATOC (anciens ou actuel), on peut citer , , H.F. Schaefer et , et certains des membres de ses organes de direction font également partie de l'Académie internationale des sciences moléculaires quantiques. (fr)
