- Viza est un groupe américain de rock alternatif, originaire de Los Angeles, en Californie. Il est formé en 2005 et composé de musiciens d'origines diverses. Le groupe était un projet depuis 2000, mais il ne s'est réellement concrétisé qu'en 2005, lors de la formation complète du groupe. Le groupe compte deux EP et cinq albums (Visa, Maktub, De Facto, Eros, Made in Chernobyl, Carnivalia et Aria). Le style musical de Viza se caractérise par un mélange de hard rock, funk metal, et folk rock avec des influences grecques, arméniennes, arabes, russes et de l’Europe orientale. Le groupe est composé de six membres : le chanteur Knoup Tomopoulos, Orbel Babayan et Shant Bismejian aux guitares électriques, le bassiste Alex Khatcherian, Chris Daniel à la batterie et le joueur de oud Andrew Kzirian. - Viza or VI·ZA (formerly known as Visa) is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, using oud, duduk and percussion fused with more conventional rock elements such as guitar, bass and drums. The band has released various EPs and full-length albums. The band's music mixes Armenian and Greek-inflected styles with elements of modern aggressive rock and traditional music. The band sometimes blends these various flavors with dance and satirical social commentary. Viza has performed at Hungary's Sziget Festival, Sweden's Malmöfestivalen, Norway's Kartfestivalen, and Slovenia's Schengenfest and Trnfest festivals, among dozens of headline shows, as a part of 6 European tours over the past several years. Viza was associated with Serjical Strike Management headed by Serj Tankian from System of a Down from 2009-2012, also featuring Tankian as a guest vocalist on their track "Viktor". In August 2010, Viza embarked on a series of introductory performances in Europe, opening for Serj Tankian's “Imperfect Harmonies” Tour in the cities of Yerevan, Athens, Hamburg, Cologne, Paris, Zurich, and Bologna. Viza accompanied Serj Tankian again during his "Harakiri" World Tour in the Fall of 2012 as the main support act for 19 shows throughout North America and Europe. In December 2011, the band released their fourth full-length album, Carnivalia, and released the title track as a single. In July 2012, the band recorded and released their third single, a cover of the 1927 "Alabama Song (whisky bar)" by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. In 2014, Viza released their album Aria, and toured as direct support for Gogol Bordello, Skindred, and Soil. After a brief hiatus to focus on individual music projects, beginning in late 2017, Viza released a series of new recordings via YouTube on the first day of every month continuing into 2018. These 12 tracks were divided into two EPs named "The Unorthodox Revival", in two separate Volumes. The band continues its activities locally in Los Angeles and performed in Paris in May 2019 in support of the My Ouai charitable foundation for providing musical opportunities to disabled children in France. - I Viza fino al 2009 chiamati Visa sono una band multi etnica di genere folk metal, proveniente da Los Angeles. La loro musica riprende i suoni orientali presenti nelle musiche popolari delle loro diverse origini (greche, armene), mescolandoli al rock e al metal. Utilizzano oltre agli strumenti tradizionali dell'heavy metal anche strumenti etnici come il duduk o l'oud. Si sono formati nel 2002 dall'iniziativa del chitarrista K'noup Tomopoulos (newyorkese di origine greche) già membro di un gruppo minore (i Neurobox) e del batterista Hiram Antonio Rosario che trasferitisi a Los Angeles raccolgono attorno a loro alcuni musicisti locali con l'idea di unire elementi folk al metal, nasce in questo periodo il gruppo denominato Visa e formato da 9 elementi. La prima pubblicazione è del 2005 con il disco omonimo autoprodotto. Dopo 2 album e 2 EP nel 2009 mutano nome in Viza e per la pubblicazione del terzo album Made in Chernobyl si fanno produrre da Serj Tankian, cantante dei System of a Down e che canta nel brano Viktor. Nel 2010 partono per un tour, fanno spalla a Serj Tankian per il tour europeo. Il 20 aprile 2011 la band pubblica il loro primo singolo, Bake Me in Clouds, anticipatore dell'album uscito nell'autunno. (it)

W marcu 2011 roku rozpoczęli prace nad kolejnym albumem zespołu – Carnivalia, który pojawił się 10 grudnia 2011 roku. 5 grudnia 2011 roku zespół udostępnił w sieci jedyny singiel Carnivalia z płyty o tym samym tytule.W 2012 roku Viza wyruszyła w trasę koncertową po Stanach Zjednoczonych i Europie jako support przed Serj'em Tankianem. W roku 2014 po udanej kampanii na Kickstarterze, zespół wydał swój najnowszy album - Aria (pl)
