- El municipi de Vesthimmerland és un municipi danès que va ser creat l'1 de gener del 2007 com a part de la Reforma Municipal Danesa, integrant els antics municipis d'Aalestrup, Farsø, Løgstør i Aars. El municipi és situat al nord de la península de Jutlàndia, a la Regió de Nordjylland, i abasta una superfície de 771,8 km². L'oest del municipi limita amb el Limfjord i aquesta part costanera és una destinació turística tradicional gràcies a les seves platges i ports. Januar 2007: Die himmerländischen Kommune Aalestrup im Viborg Amt (mit Ausnahme des (dt.: „Schulbezirk“), welcher der Mariagerfjord Kommune zugeschlagen wurde) und die benachbarten Kommunen Farsø, Løgstør und Aars im Nordjyllands Amt wurden zusammengelegt. Su capital y mayor localidad es Aars. Se localiza en el norte de la península de Jutlandia. La mayor parte de su territorio forma parte del distrito tradicional de Himmerland, que colinda al oeste con el Limfjord. Una pequeña parte del municipio se encuentra el la ribera norte del fiordo, en el distrito de Thy. El municipio fue creado el 1 de enero de 2007 como parte de una reforma que modificó la gran mayoría de los municipios daneses. En su formación se integraron los antiguos municipios de Aars, Farsø, Løgstør, y la mayor parte de Aalestrup. En este último, hubo referéndums en los distritos de Gedsted y Hvilsom.
