Sebbene fossero nate nei Paesi Bassi e parlanti native della lingua olandese, le tre sorelle erano cittadine ungheresi iure sanguinis. W jego skład wchodziły trzy Holenderki, siostry: Alexandra (1910 - 1987), Judith (1913 - 2007) i Kitty Leschan (1919 - 1965), które po przyjęciu włoskiego obywatelstwa w 1941 zmieniły imiona na: Alessandra, Giuditta i Caterinetta (Caterina) Lescano. Wychowały się w Holandii, początkowo pracowały jako akrobatki, później zaczęły śpiewać. Do Włoch przyjechały w połowie lat 30., zostały odkryte przez Carla Prato i zadebiutowały jako Trio Lescano. Dzięki radiu stały się szybko bardzo popularne. Początkowo towarzyszyły słynnym gwiazdom muzyki popularnej, takim jak: i , aby w końcu występować z własnym repertuarem. Do ich najsłynniejszych piosenek należały: Maramao perché sei morto, Ma le gambe, Pippo non lo sa, Tulipan i Il pinguino innamorato. Sukcesy zespołu skończyły się nagle w 1943. Z powodu żydowskiego pochodzenia ich matki, najpierw wszystkie ich piosenki zostały wycofane z programów radiowych, a następnie siostry zostały aresztowane i osadzone w więzieniu pod zarzutem szpiegostwa.
