- Der Begriff Schutzbereich oder englisch Safe Area bezeichnet einen Sicherheitsbereich innerhalb der Film- oder Bildaufnahme. Innerhalb dieses Bereiches wird sichergestellt, dass bestimmte wichtige Bildinformationen auch sichtbar im Bild sind. Der Bereich ist abhängig vom Seitenverhältnis (aspect ratio). Beim Filmdreh wird dabei eine Suchkamera an der normalen Filmkamera so angebracht, dass dabei der Ausschnitt zu sehen ist, der auch zum Zeitpunkt in der Filmkamera zu sehen ist. Das Bild des „Suchers“ wird dabei auf einem Monitor oder Fernsehgerät angezeigt, auf dem nachträglich mit einem Safe-Area-Generator die gewünschten Safe Areas und Seitenverhältnisse eingeblendet werden. - Safe area is a term used in television production to describe the areas of the television picture that can be seen on television screens. Older televisions can display less of the space outside of the safe area than ones made more recently. Flat panel screens, plasma displays and liquid crystal display (LCD) screens generally can show most of the picture outside the safe areas. The use of safe areas in television production ensures that the most important parts of the picture are seen by the majority of viewers. The size of the title-safe area is typically specified in pixels or percent. The NTSC and PAL analog television standards do not specify official overscan amounts, and producers of television programming use their own guidelines. Some video editing software packages for non-linear editing systems (NLE) solutions have a setting which shows the safe areas while editing. (en)

- Safe area (cui in italiano ci si riferisce come «area di sicurezza» o «area entro i margini di sicurezza») è un termine del linguaggio televisivo che indica la parte sicuramente visibile dell'immagine all'interno degli schermi dei telespettatori. La scelta di identificare un'area sicura dello schermo deriva dal fatto che i televisori più datati non sono in grado di mostrare tutta l'immagine trasmessa e quindi tagliano, in modo variabile, i bordi. Questo fenomeno è detto overscan. Gli schermi più recenti, come quelli a cristalli liquidi o al plasma, sono generalmente in grado di mostrare anche le aree più esterne dell'immagine, in alcuni casi anche interamente senza tagli. Posizionando tutti gli elementi principali dell'inquadratura all'interno della safe area, si assicura una corretta visione del programma da parte di tutti i telespettatori. Le dimensioni della safe area sono spesso fornite in percentuale dell'immagine e il loro standard più recente è fissato, per quanto riguarda l'Europa, dal documento EBU R95, il quale prevede margini più ampi rispetto al passato. Emittenti diverse possono aderire agli standard fissati così come specificare una propria safe area in base alle esigenze di trasmissione; eventuali indicazioni specifiche vengono fornite dalle singole emittenti nei capitolati tecnici forniti ai produttori di contenuti. I software professionali di editing video hanno, generalmente, una funzione in grado di mostrare delle guide che rappresentano i margini si sicurezza. (it)
