- Das Tilapia-Teich-Virus (englisch Tilapia lake virus, offiziell Tilapia tilapinevirus, TiLV) gehört als bislang (Stand Januar 2022) einzige Gattung Tilapinevirus zur Familie der Amnoonviridae und gilt als Verursacher der Tilapia-Teich-Viruskrankheit (Tilapia lake virus disease), einer Erkrankung von Buntbarschen vor allem der Gattungen Sarotherodon und Oreochromis aus dem Formenkreis Tilapia. Das Virus wurde erstmals 2014 wissenschaftlich beschrieben und 2016 genauer – jedoch noch nicht abschließend – charakterisiert. Das International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) hat für die Gattung eine eigene Familie Amnoonviridae eingerichtet (Stand November 2018), die nahe verwandt ist mit der wesentlich prominenteren Familie Orthomyxoviridae, zu denen das TiLV vorher vorschlagsmäßig gestellt wurde; beide Familien gehören zur Klasse . It is the only species in the monotypic genus Tilapinevirus, which in turn is the only genus in the family Amnoonviridae. Thus far it has been recorded in various regions across Asia, Africa, and South America. The virus was first discovered and identified in 2014 when the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret Lake) in Israel experienced a major noticeable decline in tilapia catch quantities. (en)
