- The Automatic (También conocidos en EE. UU. y Canadá como The Automatic Automatic) fue una banda de indie rock, Punk Dance originaria de Gales. Sus integrantes originales son Robin Hawkins, James Frost, y Alex Pennie. Este último dejó la banda en 2007, sustituido por Paul Mullen de la desaparecida banda YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO. La banda se formó originalmente en Cowbridge. Muse, Blur y The Blood Brothers son sus principales influencias. La banda estrenó su primer álbum Not Accepted Anywhere el 19 de junio del año 2006, del que se desprenden tres sencillos: Raoul, Recover y Monster los cuales se colocaron en los primeros lugares de las listas de popularidad en Reino Unido. El 25 de agosto del año 2008 estrenaron su segundo álbum This is a Fix con su nuevo integrante Paul Mullen. De este segundo álbum, se lanzó un único sencillo: Steve McQueen. En 2009, se encontraban finalizando su tercer álbum Tear the Sings Down, del cual se lanzó el 3 de noviembre del año 2009 su primer sencillo: Interstate. El 1 de marzo se lanzó su segundo sencillo Run & Hide y una semana después el álbum Tear the Signs Down. El 20 de junio fue lanzado el tercer sencillo Cannot Be Saved. En 2013, a través de un comunicado por un blog de Iwan Griffiths, se confirmaba la ruptura de la banda para siempre, terminando así con la incógnita que había dejado la banda luego de 3 años sin alguna señal de continuidad. - The Automatic, aussi connu sous le nom de The Automatic Automatic aux États-Unis est un groupe d'indie pop britannique, originaire de Cardiff, dans le Pays de Galles. À l'origine, ils s'appelaient White Rabbit, ils se sont renommés The Automatic, la musique étant selon eux l'antidote à « la vie automatique ». Après le lycée, ils signent leur premier album chez B-Unique Records (maison de disques des Kaiser Chiefs et Ordinary Boys). Voulant échapper à l'université ils commencent à jouer ensemble, influencés entre autres par Jarcrew, Blur et les Blood Brothers. Leur album enregistré, ils partent sur la route avec des groupes tels que Hard-Fi, The Ordinary Boys ou encore The Kooks. Après le festival Get Loaded In The Park à la fin d'août 2007, Alex Pennie prend la décision de quitter le groupe. Alors que les trois autres membres du groupe partiront bientôt aux États-Unis enregistrer leur nouvel album, Alex Pennie est remplacé par Paul Mullen. (fr)
- The Automatic (also known as The Automatic Automatic in the U.S.) was a Welsh rock band. The band's last-known lineup was composed of Robin Hawkins on vocals, bass and synthesisers, James Frost on guitar, synthesisers, backing vocals and occasional bass, Iwan Griffiths on drums and Paul Mullen on vocals, guitar and synthesiser. Mullen joined after the departure of Alex Pennie, who provided synthesiser, percussion and vocals. Signing to a deal between B-Unique Records and Polydor Records in 2005, the band released their platinum selling debut Not Accepted Anywhere in 2006, which spawned three UK top 40 singles – "Raoul", "Recover" and "Monster". The band released their second album This Is A Fix accompanied by only one single, "Steve McQueen" in 2008, which due to a dispute between the band's labels – B-Unique and Polydor – was plagued with distributional and promotional problems. The dispute led to the band withdrawing from their 5-album deal with the labels and instead formed their own label, Armoured Records, distributed through EMI. After independently releasing their third album Tear the Signs Down in 2010 and three singles – "Interstate", "Run & Hide" and "Cannot Be Saved", the band began what was meant to be a temporary break while members concentrated on other projects. James Frost began playing guitar in Effort, while Paul Mullen provided vocals and guitar in Young Legionnaire. (en)
