- El arte de los ruidos (L'arte dei Rumori) es un manifiesto futurista escrito por Luigi Russolo en una carta escrita en 1913 a su amigo y compositor futurista Francesco Balilla Pratella. En él, Russolo considera que el oído humano se ha acostumbrado a la velocidad, la energía y el ruido del paisaje urbano e industrial. Además, esta nueva paleta sonora requiere de un nuevo acercamiento a la instrumentación y composición musical. Por ello propone un número de conclusiones acerca de como la electrónica y otras tecnologías podrán permitir a los músicos futuristas "sustituir la limitada variedad de timbres que una orquesta procesa hoy por una infinita variedad de timbres que se encuentran en los ruidos, reproducidos con los mecanismos apropiados". El arte de los ruidos está considerado como uno de los más importantes e influyentes textos del siglo XX en estética musical. Pierre fondatrice du bruitisme, il est considéré comme l'un des textes les plus importants et les plus influents de l'esthétique musicale du XXe siècle ; comme l'affirme Philippe Robert à son propos : « Un grand fracas de tôle emboutie : voilà ce à quoi les bases du renouveau musical du XXe siècle ont en partie ressemblé ». Russolo y soutient l'idée que l'oreille humaine s'est familiarisée avec la vitesse, l'énergie et le bruit de l'environnement sonore urbain et industriel, et que cette nouvelle palette sonore nécessite une approche renouvelée des instruments et de la composition musicale. Il expose un certain nombre de conclusions dans lesquelles il décrit la manière dont l'électronique et d'autres technologies permettront aux musiciens futuristes de « substituer le nombre limité de sons que possède l'orchestre aujourd'hui par l'infinie variété de sons contenue dans les bruits, reproduits à l'aide de mécanismes appropriés ». In it, Russolo argues that the human ear has become accustomed to the speed, energy, and noise of the urban industrial soundscape; furthermore, this new sonic palette requires a new approach to musical instrumentation and composition. He proposes a number of conclusions about how electronics and other technology will allow futurist musicians to "substitute for the limited variety of timbres that the orchestra possesses today the infinite variety of timbres in noises, reproduced with appropriate mechanisms". The Art of Noises is considered by some authors to be one of the most important and influential texts in 20th-century musical aesthetics. (en)
