- مع تحول مرحلة الانتفاضة المدنية من الحرب الأهلية السورية إلى حرب أهلية شاملة، فقد أصبحت الحدود السورية التركية التي يبلغ طولها 911 كيلومترًا (600 ميل) مسرحًا لمواجهات عسكرية طفيفة بين الجيش التركي والفصائل المختلفة في حرب الجنوب. وقع أحد أخطر هذه الحوادث في 3 أكتوبر 2012، عندما قتلت قذيفة مدفعية أطلقت من قبل الجيش السوري خمسة وأصابت ما لا يقل عن عشرة مواطنين أتراك في بلدة أقجة قلعة الحدودية في مقاطعة شانلي أورفة في تركيا. لقد قصفت مدفعية القوات المسلحة التركية قذائف التشبع على المواقع العسكرية السورية. مع الاحتلال التركي لشمال سوريا، تسيطر تركيا الآن على جزء كبير من المنطقة الحدودية داخل سوريا، معظمها مأخوذ من قوات سوريا الديمقراطية. - El Bombardeo de Turquía sobre Siria se llevó a cabo el 3 de octubre de 2012 y es una respuesta a un previo ataque sirio lanzado sobre la ciudad turca de Akçakale que se cobró la vida de 5 civiles. La operación cuenta con el apoyo verbal de la OTAN. No solamente se han registrado bombardeos turcos a Siria, sino que también han acontecido derribo de aeronaves sirias por parte de Turquía que cruzan el espacio aéreo sirio al turco. (es)

Die türkische Regierung forderte den syrischen Präsidenten Baschar al-Assad mehrmals zum Rücktritt auf und schloss im Juli 2012 die gemeinsame Grenze. - As the civil uprising phase of the Syrian Civil War turned into an all-out civil war, the 911-kilometre-long (600 mi) Syria–Turkey border became the scene of minor military clashes between the Turkish Army and various factions in the war to the south. One of the most serious of these occurred on 3 October 2012, when an artillery shell fired from Syria by the Syrian Army killed five and injured at least ten Turkish citizens in the border town of Akçakale in Şanlıurfa Province, Turkey. Turkish Armed Forces artillery units conducted saturation shelling of Syrian military posts. Since the beginning of the Turkish occupation of northern Syria in 2016, Turkey now controls much of the border region inside Syria, mostly taken from the Syrian Democratic Forces. (en)
