- L'expedició de Drake de 1587 va tenir lloc a la badia de Cadis entre abril i maig de 1587 en el context de la guerra angloespanyola de 1585-1604. El corsari anglès Francis Drake dirigí una expedició militar contra les forces navals que Espanya estava preparant per envair Anglaterra. La major part de la flota fou destruïda i part dels subministraments foren destruïts o capturats. A aquest atac seguiren una sèrie de saquejos per diferents fortaleses de la costa portuguesa i la captura d'un vaixell de la flota d'Índies carregat de riqueses. - Singeing the King of Spain's Beard is the derisive name given to a series of attacks by the English privateer Francis Drake against the Spanish in the summer of 1587, beginning in April with a raid on Cádiz. This was an attack on the Spanish naval forces assembling in the Bay of Cádiz in preparation for the planned expedition against England. Much of the Spanish fleet was destroyed, and substantial supplies were destroyed or captured. There followed a series of raiding parties against several forts along the Portuguese coast. A Spanish treasure ship, returning from the Indies, was also captured. The damage caused by the English delayed Spanish preparations for the Armada by at least a year. (en)
- Angielski atak na Kadyks – starcie zbrojne, które miało miejsce w roku 1587 w trakcie wojny angielsko-hiszpańskiej. W roku 1587 angielski korsarz Francis Drake otrzymał od królowej Elżbiety I zadanie przeciwstawienia się flocie hiszpańskiej stacjonującej w Kadyksie. Flota angielska liczyła 6 okrętów wojennych oraz 17 uzbrojonych statków handlowych i 2 000 ludzi. Dnia 19 kwietnia Anglicy dotarli do Kadyksu, w którego porcie zewnętrznym znajdowało się 60 okrętów wojennych oraz 10 galer bojowych. Po wymianie salw artyleryjskich, Hiszpanie wycofali się, pozostawiając okręty na łaskę Anglików, którzy zawładnęli całym znajdującym się na nich ładunkiem a następnie spalili hiszpańskie jednostki. Następnego dnia Anglicy wpłynęli do portu wewnętrznego, gdzie spalili okręt admiralski, statki handlowe oraz 5 galeonów. Po 36 godzinach walk Anglicy odpłynęli. (pl)
