- Salan, Dux Salanus o Zalan (en búlgaro y Cirílico serbio: Салан o Залан; húngaro: Zalán) fue, según la Gesta Hungarorum, un vaivoda (duque) búlgaro, que gobernó en el siglo IX la zona entre los ríos Danubio y Tisza, principalmente el territorio de la actual Bačka, región de Serbia y Hungría. La ciudad capital de su voivodato (ducado) fue Titel. - Salan, Salanus or Zalan (Bulgarian and Serbian Cyrillic: Салан or Залан; Hungarian: Zalán; Romanian: Salanus) was, according to the Gesta Hungarorum, a local Bulgarian voivod (duke) who ruled in the 9th century between Danube and Tisa rivers in the south and Carpathians in the north. The capital of his voivodship (duchy) was Titel. The exact border of his duchy is not clear: according to some sources, his duchy included present-day northern Serbia, much of present-day central Hungary, present-day eastern Slovakia and part of present-day western Ukraine and northern Romania, while according to other sources his duchy included only present-day Bačka/Bácska region of Serbia and Hungary. His name comes from the toponym Szalánkemén (archaically Zoloncaman, today Stari Slankamen). (en)
- Salan (węg. Zalán) – według Gesta Hungarorum (najstarszej kroniki węgierskiej) książę Słowian panujący „na pograniczu z Rusinami” w chwili inwazji Madziarów pod wodzą Arpada. Jego państwo miało znajdować się w dorzeczu Cisy, a jego stolicą było Titel. Początkowo pertraktował z Madziarami, odstępując im terytoria aż po rzekę Zagyva. Później jednak sprzymierzył się z Bułgarią i Cesarstwem Bizantyjskim, żądając od Węgrów wycofania się z wcześniej zajętych ziem. Pokonany w bitwie, zbiegł do Belgradu. W późniejszych kronikach węgierskich postać Salana nie występuje, a opisane w Gesta Hungarorum wydarzenia wiązane są z Menumorutem lub Świętopełkiem morawskim. Sam Salan uważany jest albo za historycznego księcia bułgarskiego lub wołoskiego, bądź też za postać fikcyjną, stworzoną przez kronikarza. (pl)
